Our youngest son Ray, his wife Alison, and their son Franklin came from Magna to see us. They stopped in Manti and got Alisons mother, Margaret Bauer, and brought her along also. We all enjoy three-year-o- ld each others company. Max and Emeral Sorenson had their two daughters Sharon with her husband Frank Willardson - and Nancy and her husband Larry Robison and both families for part of the weekend. Margaret Nielsens children Gary and La Rae Hatch and their seven children and Doug and Anita Nielsen and their four boys were here to help her feel better after her fall. Shes feeling quite a bit better; just stiff and sore, she says. Ellis and Venna Nay and their Five boys went to Mesa, Arizona to see the Easter Pageant Jesus the Christ at the temple grounds there. They were to travel on from Mesa some and return home in the puddle of the week. Marty and Kathy Christensen and their seven kids went part-wa- y up Mayfield canyon for a picnic Easter Sunday , but got stuck in a ditch. By the time they got out, they just came home and "picnicked there. Keith and Maxine Sorenson and Bill and Marilyn (Sorenson) Nordfelt and their six children went to Capitol Reef for a picnic Saturday. They all had - Satina News 528-753- 1 Evelyn Kiesel an enjoyable time. Maxines mother, Myrtle Jensen, is still in ORegon with her daughter Veone Fjeldsted. Shes homesick, but cant travel for quite a few weeks yet. Ivan and Madge and Moyel and V eone Jensen were here in the valley to visit over the weekend. They saw Eugene and Nancy and Mardcll and Elva, and probably quite a few others. The children were out of school Friday and will not go back until T ues-daso Keith and Loralcc Jensen and their three went to Zions Canyon for an y, extended weekend. Arden and Affalones oldest son Jack was home for the weekend. Arden is getting along pretty well. He sits out on his front porch and watches his small world go by. Were glad hes feeling better and wish him well. Nora Lee Koeven had a nice surprise. Her brother Dell Lowe, his wife Bernice and another sister-in-lalaura dropped in. They hadnt had a chance to visit for over ten years. Garcn and Joanne Koeven and their two little boys were also here for the weekend. Its been an interesting time this last week. People have been preparing to travel or waiting for their families to comehomeforavisit. Manyhavebcen happier because of the happenings of the weekend. Gunnison News Helen Rasmussen Visiting LaVona Bradley is LaVonas missionary companion Juanita Jones of ElPaso, Texas. They traveled to California to visit the mission where they served as missionaries. Dortha Jensen was hostess to the Literary 12 on Thursday evening. Refreshments were served. Each member reviewed an article that they wanted to share. Mrs. Mary Hermansen had her family visiting her for the Easter weekend, Julian and Faye Anderson and family from St. George. Roger and Gladys Anderson had their children and grandchildren visit them for Easter weekend. Mitzi and Norman Meacham and family from Logan, Janice and David Dailey and family from Riverton, Cynthia and Dan Gagan and family of Provo and Suzanne and Jim Sanders and family of Gunnison. Annette Dyreng was the lucky winner of the beautiful quilt that was quilted by the Gunnison Garden Club. Her ticket was the lucky one that was drawn Saturday morning. The money that was received fromt he sale of the tickets will help to pay for the restoration of the log cabin at the Gunnison City Park. Lots of families from the valley took advantage of the good weather Friday and Saturday and took their children on Easter trips. Les and Ruth Rosenvall and family went to Vernal, Mark and Delene Coates and family, Lorene and Dee Willardson, Rodney and Shauna Willardson and children traveled to the sand dunes in Juab County. They had a wonderful time and reported there were not as many people there as had been expected. Bob and Lorie Mattson went to Las Vegas. Ida and Bud Jorgenseon had a nice visit with their son Lee Bud and Margaret and family of Decolo, Idaho. Ida just wished they could have kept them for a few more days, because they had to travel so far and then only spend two days. Jane and Greg Cloward and family of Provo also visited at the Jorgenson home. Acel and Amy Thompson, Loretta Mellor and Justin and Jeremy Hyatt went to Yuba Resevoir. Lynn and Phyllis McArthur and Chris, Anna Mae Quamberg and Ron and Monica Jensen were also having an outing at the REsevoir. Everyone is tired of winter and snow and were enjoying spending sometime outside and enjoying the sun. Ardella and Keith Peterson and family of Gunnison, Shanna and Leslie James and family of Bountiful, Melvin and Blanche Taylor of Mayfield, Brenda and Brad Aagord and family of Fountain Green visited in Loa with Verla and Burke Smith on Friday. On Saturday Ardella and Keith Peterson and family, Nedra and Dale Peterson and family and Elma Melroy Peterson visited at Capital Reef and Goblin Valey and had a very nice time hiking and having a picnic. Thursday morning the Varsity Scouts form the First Ward went on a Back pack trip. Curtis Anderson and Allen Dyreng were the leaders of the Scouts. Greg Worthington, Derek Anderson, Jeff Bartholomew, Andy Hill, Courtney Bartholomew, Matt Roberts, Richard Homs and Greg Anderson. The trip was at GRand Gulch, which is 8 miles from the Natural Bridges. This is a deep desert canyon with scores of Anasuzi Ruins. They hiked 25 miles in 2 12 days. They met scout troops from Colorado and Arizona and Idaho. They met one man from Boston who has hiked the canyon five times. Curtis stated that they didnt see any pop cans or candy bar wrappers on the whole trip. He said that back packers are very clean when they hike and carry back out all their trash. zens Legislature, and was active in the Democratic party. During the 20 years he lived in Manti he belonged to the Manti American Legion, Post 31, serving as commander and later as Commander of District 6 of the American Legion. Due to poor health, he moved to Bountiful in August of 1986. Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, 4 daughters: Hal J. Williams, CA; Scott Williams, CA; Shauna Nakaya, ing n, Claudia Christiansen, both Bountiful; Sally Stevens, Sandy; Connie Dyreng, Ephraim; 25 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. Also survivors are two sisters, LaRae Clifford, SLC; Jay Dean Lanoncctte, Proser, WA; and half brother, Leland Parker, CA. Funeral services were held at the Manti Stake Center March 23, 1988. Burial was in Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy, with military rites by the Manti American Legion. We want to welcome Dean Bartholomew home after his 34 day stay in different hospitals. He was in three different hospitals, Gunnison, Utah Valley and the University Medical Center to have his heart corrected. He is now at home feeling much better. He appreciated the many visitors and also his whole family which were very attentive to him and Darlene. They settled in Kaysville, where her husband worked Lucille Sheffield - Aurora News Eugene LaMar Eugene LaMar Williams, age 67 , died March 19, 1988, at his home in Bountiful, Utah, of cancer. He was bom May 1 1 , 1920 in Salt Lake City, Utah to James F. and Leona Clark Williams. He married Beverly McMillian, August 1940, in Farmington, she was a former R.N. at Gunnison Hospital. He was a member of the LDS Church and was active in the Scouting Program. Was a member of the Rose Park Lions Club serving on both state and local levels. Was chairman of the Safety Committee of West High PTA.
