That is a very natural and appropriate family practice, unless it becomes too debilitating to the primary caregiver, or to the one receiving care. Because of the desire to care for mom or dad at home as long as possible , I want to share with you an insight for an occasional repneve Day Care, or Respite care, as it is sometimes called, is a valuable service we offer at Richfield Care Center. Following is an excerpt from a recent professional journal In most cases (from studies that have been made), respite care was found to have a positive impact on the caregiver, dependent family member, or both. A strong point of the program is that they felt refreshed and better able to contmue care for the older relativeat home. The studies show tat during the respite period, caretakers activities included resting, 76, taking care of personal health problems, and vacationing, 34 Caretakers agreed that 1) Respite care made it easier to provide home care a fter the denendent member r Light returned home; 2) they were less emoti- onally and physically exhausted after the respite; 3) the dependent-caretaker relationship improved, and 4) both were satisfied with day care in that it was a good repneve for each other We valuable a (day) care is service that we should be more frequently to help the feel the respite providing folks of our service area We have found it is also very helpful for those who may need our extended service in making adjustment because they already made many good friends at the Care TRI-STAK- have here Center to purchase additional vitamins to progress up the award ladder.
