smell of grass turning green fresh ncwly-lurne- d dirt and flowers and trees starting to blossom But in Fremont the smell most reminiscent to me of spring is the smell of manure as it is hauled out to the fields As I drove dow n the road and looked out at the manure-strew- n field and I knew — spring is smelled the air here Honorees From Six County Program Recipients of honors from the Six County During the fourth annual recognition and installation banquet at the Road Creek Inn Restaurant in Loa the Six County Economic Develop District honored area businesses and community leaders for their efforts and contribution to economic and community development Richfield Coca-ColBottling Company was presented with the regional economic development a award The company was recognized for its continual effort to support civic public and private events through promotional endeavors within the six county area Accepting the award on behalf of the company were Fred Christensen general manager and Lee Couch sales manager Chcslcy Christensen mayor of Mt Pleasant City and SCEDD vice chairman made the presentation Ncphi City received the regional beautification award Mayor Christensen also made this presentation and recognized the city for its planning effort and implementation process toward meeting its beautilica-tio- n goals and objectives Accepting the award and traveling trophy on behalf of Ncphi City were Milton Harmon city councilman and Philip Baker parks and cemetery supervisor Ash Grove Cement West Inc was recognized for the significant economic strength it provides to Juab and neighboring counties Glenn Grccnhalgh director of economic development for Juab County made the presentation Duane Crutchfield plant manager and Ware Ken human manager received the award on behalf of the company Continental Lime Inc was honored for its contribution to the economic vitality of Millard County Accepting the award on behalf of the company were Russell Dobson Cricket Mountain plant manager and Mike Palmer maintenance supervisor Millard County Commissioner Tony Dearden made the presenta- tion Joseph F and Nancy Smith owners and managers of The Wooden Nickel in Marysvalc were recognized for their entrepreneurial spirit and creating employment in Piute County Piute County Commissioner Don Julandcr presented Mr Smith with the award Mrs Smith was unable to attend George W Johansen ow ncr and manager of GW Johansen Construction Company of Ml Pleas- ant was honored for the significant employment he creates and economic strength he provides to Sanpete County Sanpete County Commissioner J Keller Christenson presented Mr Johansen with the award The Paiutc ATV Trail Committee was recognized for its outstanding coordination and development of the Piute ATV Trail which has greatly enhanced the tourism industry of Sevier County Accepting the award on behalf of the committee were Roger Foisy chairman and Gordon Kiesel committee member Richard Lcyba director of economic development for Sevier County made the presentation Fred and Janet Hansen ow ners and managers of The Torrcy Greenhouse in Torrcy were honored for their continual growth and employment contribution to the eco nomic strength and well being Wayne County of Wayne County Commissioner Meeks Morrell presented Mr and Mrs Hansen w ith the award Recognition was given to Rep Mike Slylcr who resigned from the SCEDD board after 1 1 years of service Millard County Commissioner Tony Dearden received an award on behalf of Rep St ler who was unable to attend Vinsccnt Crawford district manager of Utah Power serving Delta and Milford was installed as a new ly appointment member of the SCEDD board and Panoramaland Resource Conservation and Development Council The recognition banquet is
