Thats the advice concerning a free Sanpete History course that will begin soon at Snow College. The opening session will be held on October 4 at 7 p.m. in Room 115 of the Noyes Building and the course will continue for six more weeks. The instructor will be Dr. Jack Smith, preservation planning specialist with the Utah State Historical Society, who has done research on Sanpete history and is a frequent visitor to the area. The course is cosponsored by the State Historical Society and the Snow College Office of Community Services. College credit for the course is available at standard tuition rates. This type of course should be of particular interest to persons writing personal or family histories and to others just plain interested in the history of the county in which they live, Dr. Smith said. He added that the course content will extend from the earliest recorded history to the present and will not only provide insight into the lives, personalities and events that formed the county, but will also demonstrate methods of research available for use in writing personal and family histories. Artifacts, pictures and personal histories of past residents will be used in connection with the course. historical lecturer Ephraim Parents, college students and older teens are invited to attend the Family Life Conference today (Thursday) from 2:30 to 9 p.m. at the Ephraim West Ward. Attendance is free except for those who wish to earn an hour of Snow College credit by attending all sessions of the conference, doing extra designated work and completing advance registration in Room 313 of the New Science Building on the campus. The conference will open at 2:30 with orientation and continue at 3:00 with a series of workshops. These workshops will be repeated, with a dinner break, until 8:30 so those who desire can attend four of the School. The classes have been scheduled in such a way as to permit people to participate in both courses without conflict. One activity will be a dance for young people in the ninth grade or older. The other will be a movie for young people in the eighth grade and younger. The movie will be So Dear to my Heart.
