Sterling 835-545- Escapes Serious Injury in Farm Accident Lucien Peterson and his daughter LuDon were in Salt Lake City on Friday and Saturday where they stayed overnight with Rita Ann and her family at Sandy. LuDon had to keep an appointment after which they returned home. A boy is back in school following a farm accident which could have resulted in nine-year-ol- d serious injury or death. John, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Meade Squire, sustained a cracked bone in his leg when he fell from a tractor and was run over by the huge rear wheel. Riding as a passenger on a tractor driven by an older brother, John lost his balance when the machine crossed some uneven ground and was thrown off onto his side. The rear wheel then passed over his chest area. John was given first aid by a local doctor and then taken by ambulance to the Utah Valley Hospital. He was in intensive care for two nights and a day with collapsed lungs. He responded satisfactorily to treatment and was soon however, ambulatory. had revealed the cracked bone and John was placed on crutches. He was released from the hospital Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ike (Grace) Stoker and family, Roy, Mr. and Mrs. Virg Thomas and family, Tooele, Mr. and Mrs. Bob (Verda Mae) Sorenson, Sandy, were all weekend visitors at the home of their mother and brother, Maggie and Roy Thomas. The family had gathered as a result of the sudden death early Friday morning to John Evan Thomas, the eldest child of John and Maggie D. Thomas. Ace and Nedra T. Allred and family, Clearfield, Billie and Carolyn Thomas and family, Richfield, Sheldon and Wilma Thomas, Gunnison, were all in Sterling at the home of Evan and Lillie L. Mrs. Hone is the former Janet Cotten a daughter of Mrs. Stella McPherson (formerly Stella Cotten) and the late Glen Cotten of Ephraim. Mr. and Mrs. Hone invite friends and relatives to join them at the wedding ceremony Saturday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Gervin Stott visited with their son Carl at Valley West Hospital, where he is recovering from an operation. They report that he is getting along well. They all drove to Preston Monday morning to be with the family. The Jensens arrived home on Tuesday evening. Overnight guests at their home were a nephew and wife, Calvin and Betty Bailey of Pasco, Wash. They had brought Calvins mother from Richland, Wash, to attend the funeral of her sister, Alta Johnson. Weather Libbys No. FROZEN FOODS TV DINNERS, Swanson The number of adult bald eagles counted on the annual Division of Wildlife Resources summer survey increased this year over numbers seen in the past. Division personnel surveyed 55 routes statewide and counted eight adult and one juvenile bald eagles and 45 adult and 18 juvenile golden eagles. The total of 96 eagles was the same as 1974s when one more route was surveyed. In 1973, 119 eagles were seen, while 113 were sighted in 1972. Raptors other than eagles totaled 364. Some 296 sparrow hawks were counted making them the most commonly seen species. They have been the most often seen bird in the summer surveys which were begun in 1972.
