Show Mantl Messenger, Thors. Oct. 23, 1975 Title I Projects Termed Very Successful Here 66 According to information released by the South Sanpete School District, Title I projects engaged in during the 1974-7- 5 school year were very successful. Projects were carried out in Gunnison Valley Elementary, Gunnison Valley High, Manti Elementary, and Ephraim Elementary School. Title I project may cover a variety of areas according to the determined needs of the students. It was determined by a cooperative effort of parents and schools that reading was one of the greatest needs of students in South Sanpete. A A district objective was progress in reading as measured by the reading test, for every month in the program. If a child made this much progress in reading for every month he spent in school, he would be even with his class. Seventy-tw- o students, or 70.8, of 102 students in the program, achieved the objective. Individual students ranged from a high of 3.7 years growth during the seven-mont- h testing period to one student who scored lower in the spring test than he did in the fall. The entire district made an average gain of 1.4 months for every month in the program. Gates-McGinit- Copies of the evaluation of the that 65 students in South Sanpete participating in the program would make one months report are on file t the South Sanpete School District office and are available if anyone desires to obtain one. established Former Resident Receives Award Morris E. In order to be valid, they must be limited to one nominee each, must include written certification that the nominee is willing to serve if elected, must be signed by at least three eligible farm voters motel. Salt Lake Will Be Site Of Hearings U.S. Senator Jake Garn announced this week that Salt Lake City will be the site of one of a series of Senate Small Business Subcommittee field hearings to be held before the end of the year. Senator Garn, the Subcommittees ranking minority member and Senator SubRobert Morgan committee Chairman, will pre- side at the November 7 hearing. Our purpose is to hear testimony from Utah businessmen and other interested parties regarding their dealings with the Small Business Administration or problems businesses may be having in other that we may better assess the role of Subcommittee in helping Senthe small businessman, ator Garn said. We scheduled one of our hearings for Salt Lake City because small business is the single largest employer in Utah and many businesses arent making it. Government regulations are stifling and the lack of available capital for further growth and development is forcing far too many small businessmen out of business. I have always felt that small business is the backbone of the nations economy; the major contributor to our tax base. He expressed concern to those same reporters about the Pandoras box you open up when you strike down a Supreme Court decision. Obviously, he cares little about the deadly Pandoras box opened up by the Supreme Court in the first place. To permit and tolerate abortion is to present an engraved invitation to tyranny. mile 1. REAL ESTATE Abortion Gets A Boost An Invitation To Tyranny Abortion Two important points continually need airabortion. The first is that ing when di'wU'sing any appeal for abortion as a womans right is a false argument The new life in her womb also has an unalienable right to its life. Why doesn't the Court or Senator Bayh speak for the innocent fetus The second point is that the Supreme Court, through its cowardly decision, has assumed for government a frightening degree of power over life It is r.ot very far to proceed from denying the right to life to an unborn child because it is too young to denying it to someone else who is too old, too infirm, or too politically annoy- 1 835-481- 283-433- Cowan ordered military base commanders to laws regarding abortion and to act ignore state instead on the Supreme Court ruling. McManus Legalized abortion Belmont, Massachusetts continues to claim hundreds of thousands of lives in the United States. It was on January 22, 1973, that the Supreme Court not only overturned existing laws prohibiting abortions but also repudiated the primary purpose for which that is, any government is brought into being the protection of life. For the record, let us state our continuing conviction that life begins at conception. In our view, any willful and unprovoked termination of a pregnancy is the taking of innocent life; by definition, this is murder. The Supreme Court, in its infamous decision, deliberately ignored the very crucial matter of defining when life begins. It did so because no evidence exists anywhere to challenge the fact that life begins approximately nine months prior to birth.
