They went by plane. Mrs. Duncan was 77 years old. She died Oct. 1st after a long illness. The city supplied about 15 gallons of paint to the project and paid for cleaning the drapes. The Literary Club, headed by Pres. Mildred Johnson, provided the encouragement, the supervision and the goodies that kept the workmen going. The Lions Club contributed s 128 to the effort, according to Pres. Alburn Lyon. They spackled, patched, sanded and painted the club rooms and the hallway. Fourteen Lions participated in the effort, according to their president. Some worked one evening, some several. By tradition Lions growl, President Lyon said, but not much growling was heard on this project. The ladies took care of that with the punch, pop, cookies and brownies their officers provided.
