He Manti Messenger 2 June 26, 1975 Obituaries Edna Allred M, was only 31- - He has put up a valiant struggle for life since his illness was first discovered in December, returning to the college temporarily and attempting to carry on his work. Bob attended Lassen Junior College in Susanville and then obtained his bachelors degree from the University of California at Davis. He later obtained a masters degree in animal science at the University of Nevada. He taught at Lassen Junior College and Gridley High School, Gridley, California before accepting an appointment to the Snow College faculty in Edna M. Allred, 69, Manti, died June 15 of a heart ailment in the Sanpete LDS Hospital in Mt. Pleasant. She was born October 19, 1905 in Manti to Andrew H. Miller and Sabra Ann Hall Miller. She graduated from Manti High School and attended Brigham Young University. She married Jenms P. Allred, September 8, 1926 in the Manti LDS Temple. Mrs. Allred was a teacher in Primary, Sunday School and M.I.A., Relief Society Visiting Teacher and in Relief Society Presidency and also on the stake board. She was a temple ordinance worker. Mrs. Allred was a member of the Manti Ladies Literary Club and also past club president, taught girls club, and was a member of the Cowbelles Association. Survivors include her husband, and sons, Jennis Blaine Allred and Glen Andrew Allred, both of Manti; seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Manti Center-Nort- h Ward June 19. Burial was in the Manti City Cemetery. 1970. In addition to his teaching he served on several committees and was president of the Snow College Faculty Association. He will be named Shawn and he has two brothers and two sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Armstrong, grandparents, now have 14 grandchildren, 8 boys and 5 girls and the Ivan Petersons, Manti, now have 10. Administrators Attend Retreat Twenty-seve- school admin- n istrators from south-centrUtah returned last week from northern California after parin a week-loneducational retreat in Alamo. The retreat was planned to train the administrators in a new g ticipating Second Daughter participatory management program entitled Catalyst. The program concept is based on the validity of bringing more input and decision-makinqualities into school administration from parents, students, and parent-teache- r groups. Catalyst has been operative in the Vallejo, California schools, and the result has been much more positive parent and student support of educational goals, resulting in much higher educational peiformance on the part ot pupils. Mr Lloyd Smith of Central Utah Educational Services initiated the retreat after securing a special project grant from the Utah State Department of Education. Attending school administrators included: South Sanpete Mr. and Mrs. Jeff (Cathy) Jensen, Salt Lake City wel corned their second daughter on Saturday June 21. The baby gni was born at the LDS Hospital and weighed 5 lbs. 11 oz. She will be named Juliann. Juliatin has a 2Vi year old sistei, Jennifer, at home. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Phil Olson, Ephraim and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jensen, Manti. are Mr. and Mrs. Gail Jensen, Manti and Mrs. Stella Brandon, g ts Provo. Jeff and Cathy both received their bachelor degrees at the University of Utah this spring Jeff graduated in accounting and Cathy received her degree in music education. She graduated magna cum laude. Mrs, Leah Marx Graduates From Celebrates 81st Birthday USU With Straight A Mrs Leah Marx was entertained most royally on June 18th for her 81st birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Evan Erickson Manti LDS Temple Rites Unite Diane Latimer and Chris Erickson Diane Marie Latimer and Chris Evan Erickson were married in the Manti LDS Temple on Friday, May 23, 1975. The young couple were honored at a reception in the LDS Institute that night by the parents of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Erickson. The bride wore a beautiful dress made by her grandmother, Mrs. Henry Goff. Greeting guests were Mr. and Mrs. Clair Erickson, John Erickson, brother to the groom, Chris and Diane, Linda Nielson and Jerrylyn Christensen, friends of the bride and Jane, Ann and Carol Erickson, sisters of the groom. Mrs,, Gwen Tippetts and Mrs. Vera Erickson presided at the punch bowls. Friends of the bride were at the guest book and the gift tables. Bridesmaids wore dresses of pink and yellow to coincide with the color scheme for the evening. Following the reception the bride and groom left for Grants Pass, Oregon where they were honored at an open house on May 27th by the parents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Conger. Karen M. Casto, Logan, was named valedictorian of the Utah State University college of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. She graduated from the USU honors program with a 4.00 grade point average. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glendon W. Casto, former of Ephraim and a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jensen of Ephraim. The South Sanpete School District Board of Education met in regular session on Wednesday, June 18, 1975 at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Ronald Everett was officially appointed as Superintendent of the South Sanpete School District for a period of two school years, 1975-7Kenneth Graham, Title I Director for South Sanpete School District, was present to discuss the Title I Program. Board members were given copies of the application and budget and problems and successes of the reading program were discussed. The application was approved by the board and Supt. Everett was appointed official representative to sign all Title I documents. Bids for the Sterling bus garage were considered and the high bid from Sterling Town was accepted by the board. Salary negotiations were discussed and Supt. Everett was authorized to meet with the various groups in the district. Glen Lee was appointed as board representative to work with negotiating committees. Lists of requests from schools made during the annual maintenance tour were discussed. The board approved the request from Barbara Bown, home economics advisor at Gunnison Valley High School, for financial support for Tamara Chappell and herself to attend the National FHA Convention. Miss Chappell is a state officer for FHA for the coming school year. The board approved the request of the LDS Social Services to use the Ephraim Elementary and Gunnison Valley Elementary Schools for their Day Camp Program at the rate of $250.00 per building. The tentative budget for 1975-7- 6 was discussed with the board. Supt.
