LaMont Lyon once again this year is going to cut the weeds and grasses on these streets with his tractors and large mowing machine. The streets must be perfectly free of all trash and debris before he can mow. Also, it has been observed that there are many abandoned automobiles on the streets. We are asking the owners of these vehicles to remove them into their yards or some other place off the streets so that we can get the streets cleaned. Please clean up the area by your place immediately so this work can be done. Manti City Council The Learner Burners is the name of a new club in Ephraim. McManus Senator Edward Belmont, Massachusetts whose political position in Massamost secure, has become the object of some spirited demonstrations in and around Boston. Although the larger newspapers have not done so, some of the smaller weeklies have begun to chastise the Senator because of his support of forced busing. A columnist for the Dorchester (Mass.) recently criticized the Senators position on this volatile issue. The newspaper then carried his response, and a close reading of that should earn the Senator even greater criticism. J n Congress Makes The Laws Most children, before they finish Junior High School, learn that our Constitution established three separate branches of government, the Legislative, the Executive, and the Judicial, each with distinct functions. They also learn from the very first sentence in Article I, Section 1, of the Constitution that: "All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress." In other words, only the Legislative Branch, the Congress, has power to make law. The Constitution further provides that the Judicial Branch shall ensure that whatever laws are made do not violate the Constitution. And it is the function of the Executive Branch to see that all laws are implemented. Judicial Tyranny In 1954, a Supreme Court ruling on school segregation firmly established power in the Judicial Branch to decide that what was illegal yesterday could be legal today, and vice versa depending not on the Constitution or on judicial precedent but on the whim of the Court. VICKIE EDMONDS of Spring City Provo Graduate of Mary's Beauty College Men's Hair Speeding Toward Total Power The widespread contempt for, ignorance of, and tampering with the Constitution exemplified by Senator Kennedys statement is leading this nation down the road to totalitarianism. Since the whole purpose of the Constitution was to limit the power of government, it is not surprising to see tyranny growing over the document. The wreckage of that Supreme Court is guilty of illegal usurpation that is speeding our nation toward tyranny, and Senator Kennedy and others like him are accessories to the crime. In his Farewell Address in 1796, George Washington warned of exactly such a route to despotism. He toid us that preservation of the Constitution was sacredly obligatory upon all, and that usurpation is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed. Few want to listen to the wisdom of George Washington today. We see, instead, a move to make Edward Kennedy our next President. Heaven help us all!
