The Hill AFB STEM Outreach Program worked with Air Force STEM to bring the ASM Materials Camp to Utah. In August 2012, representatives from Air Force STEM and ASM International came out to Utah to meet the STEM Outreach Program and to tour fourof Utah's major universities. Upon completion of the tour, the representatives were so impressed with the quality of BYU, University of Utah, Utah State University and Weber State University that it was decided to provide the opportunity for ASM Materials Camp to be held at all four campuses. This year the two camps will be held at BYU and WSU with the following year camps held at the University of Utah and USU. "We at the Hill Air Force Base STEM Outreach Program are so pleased to have worked with BYU, ASM International and the local Salt Lake City ASM Chapter to bring the first ASM Materials Camp to Utah," said Debbie Roach, STEM Outreach Coordinator for Hill AFB. "We believe that there is a need for a program like this and look forward to hosting the event in the years to come and working with the universities in Utah," Roach explained. Since 2002, thousands of high school and middle school teachers have attended ASM Materials Camp. In 2013, the ASM Materials Education Foundation is conducting 44 camps for T 1.0.81 rooms. "It is exciting to see the growth of this program in the state of Utah. The STEM Outreach here at Hill Air Force Base is very honored that four of the Utah's universities were chosen by the Air Force to sponsor the ASM Teacher's Camp. It brought our team much satisfaction to see how excited the teachers were at the BYU camp. I am looking forward to the next one in August at Weber State University," said Judith Maughan, School Liaison Officer. The second 2013 ASM Material Camp in the state of Utah will be held at Weber State University Aug. 5-9.
