The event will run from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is being sponsored through the Choral Arts Society of Utah. Other bands and musicians will play as well including Fire on the Mountain and Dizzy Desoto. The Gallivan Center is located at 239 S. Main Street in Salt Lake City. The event is free and anyone is welcome to attend. Utah Vietnam War Veterans Day of Honor SALT LAKE CITY — KUED and the Utah Department of Veteran Affairs invites everyone to honor Utah Vietnam war veterans on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 18, at the Utah State Capitol, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Utah Gov. Gary Herbert will speak at 2 p.m. An exhibit and a reception will be held in the Hall of Governors, 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and a moment of silence will be held on the West Lawn at the Veteran Memorial at 3:45 p.m. prepare to furlough most Department of Defense (DoD) civilians for up to 11 days. The schedule for furloughs, and some specific exceptions, are described later in this memo and in (an) attachment. I have made this decision very reluctantly, because I know that the furloughs will disrupt lives and impact DoD operations. I, along with the senior civilian and military leadership of the Department, have spent considerable time reviewing information related to the need for furloughs, and I would like to share with you the reasoning that led me American Forces Press Service W ASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced Tuesday that he has signed a memorandum directing defense managers to prepare to furlough most Defense Department civilian employees for up to 11 days between July 8 and the Sept. 30 end of the fiscal year. Here is the text of the memo in its entirety: This memo directs defense managers to to this difficult decision. Major budgetary shortfalls drove the basic furlough decision. On March 1, sequestration went into effect across the federal government. DoD's budget for FY 2013 was reduced by $37 billion, including $20 billion in the operation and maintenance (O&M) accounts that pay many of our civilian workers. STOMP training for families, May 20-21 Physical fitness rodeo, memorial National Police Week continues, May 16-17 Airman & Family Readiness Center S pecialized Training of Military Parents, or STOMP, is an organization dedicated solely to address the needs of military families who have family members with special medical or educational needs. A STOMP event May 20-21 is open to all active duty, retired Guard, Reserve and Team Hill civilians. Thursday, May 16, a Police Week Endurance Fitness Challenge will be held at the Warrior Fitness Center Track Parking Lot at 9 a.m. Four person teams will compete various tasks, in an Air Force Rodeo. There will be a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle pull, a tug of war and various team challenges. Prizes will be given and local police agencies will participate. On Friday, May 17, a Police Week Memorial Retreat will be held at Building 1102, at 4 p.m. The ceremony will be conducted by the 75th Security Forces Squadron Honor Guard.
