Air Force ensemble to visit Ogden DLA March 1, 2012 8 volunteers find CFC work fulfilling BY MARY Lou GORNY Hilltop Times editor 0 U.S. Air Force Rampart Winds, an ensemble from the U.S. Air Force Band, will be performing at three locations in Utah in the coming week. Sgt. Sarah Stewart. gden Depot Logistics Agency members participating as Key Workers in the Combined Federal Campaign expressed great enthusiasm after the campaign for efforts within the agency this year. DLA raised $51,596 which exceeded the Key Representative's goal this year. "The fiftieth anniversary of the CFC meant a lot to me this year," said Caren Chavez, DLA training liaison. "I know a lot of people have a tight belt this year, but our DLA Aviation employees opened up their hearts and donated well over what I had expected. The goal was set for DLA Ogden at $37,000. We thought that was going to be a hard goal to meet, but we started out early and had a plan." Courtesy photo Ogden DLA CFC Key Workers assembled for a photo recently. They are (left to right) Stacey Divin, Gloria Robinson, Marla Womble, Janet Hall, CFC Key Rep Caron Chavez, Bill Hartman, Cheerie Wilson, Jeff Young, Carolyn Judkins and Jacob Passey. Not pictured: Troy Judkins, Jon Clark, Dave Lake, Dave Stickney, Keith Steel, Sandy Wood and Terry Lutz. Key Worker Cheerie Wilson especially loved the book sale and was motivated in her volunteer efforts because family members have benefitted from transplant programs 4 one of the multiple agencies supported through CFC donations. Other Key Workers liked the extra opportunities afforded by the fundraisers in addition to the main campaign. Those who might not donate via a pledge card were able to donate through the book sales and food sales. Many Key Workers loved the camaraderie, the team building and the chance to support nonprofit organizations. "I was glad to see the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Northern Utah at our kick-off program," said Bill Hartman. "A lot of people got the opportunity to see and hear more of what they do for our natural wildlife. I relished the chance to work with so many dedicated people." The Ogden DLA volunteers were especially motivated as friends and acquaintances shared experiences with them of being assisted through participating agencies. These would often occur during the face-to-face meetings. "We had 100 percent face to face goals," said Chavez. That meant that in addition to an Early Bird Award opportunity to see who could get their funds in, the workers would approach all those in their unit with information and an opportunity to pledge. "I am so proud of my keyworkers and our DLA employees for reaching out," said Chavez. • Hill AFB Job Openings Site March into ODR, ITT for winter activities BY SENIOR AIRMAN MELISSA DEARSTONE 75th Air Base Wing Public Affairs R ampart Winds, a woodwind quintet from the United States Air Force Academy Band, will be performing in Utah on March 2-5.
