Show HILLTOP TIMES 4 TIMES May 20, 2010 75th Mission Support Group strategic plan announced O n an installation as large and as diverse as Hill Air Force Base, it's important to know who you support and how best to support them. That's the job of the 75th Mission Support Group — to focus on the customer — the 23,000plus Airmen, civilians, family members and contractors who live and work here. That's a huge responsibility by any standard, and it's the job of the group's four squadrons: Contracting, Force Support, Logistics Readiness and Security Forces to make it all happen. Given this responsibility, group leadership judged it essential that there be a written strategic plan to guide and orchestrate the myriad of support activities performed by its 1,200 personnel. Toward this end, a cross-functional team of Airmen and civilians representing all levels of the group came together to build a comprehensive strategic plan. The plan aligns the group's ongoing efforts with higher headquarters guidance, provides day-to-day focus, and sets the stage for continued mission performance — all while encouraging and supporting people. The plan contains a revised mission statement, a vision of "Who We Are" as a group, five specific objectives, and metrics to measure progress toward the objectives. It took several meetings, a couple off-sites and several pots of coffee to accomplish, but we are now well on our way to moving out on the plan! For each objective the mission support group formulated 5-10 actions essential to accomplishing the objective and ensure focus. From these actions, we developed metrics to hold ourselves accountable. With these metrics we will be able to monitor our progress in each objective and to identify those areas in which opportunity for even greater improvement exists. The next big event for the 75th MSG will involve the indispensible step of meeting with our key customers and ask them how we're doing. Through this dialogue, we'll establish common understanding of each other's capabilities and needs and forge a common approach to ensure we provide what's needed — within resource constraints — to get them what they need to be successful. Although the strategic plan will always in a sense be a work in progress, the statement of "Who We Are" as a group already tells the end of the story: We are dedicated to the success of the mission, and we perform our duties with a sense of pride and determination always focusing on the needs of the customer. That's why we're the "Muscle of the Herd and Heart of the Mission!" Combat support, muscle up! MISSION STATEMENT To provide Ogden Air Logistics Center and 61 associate units on Hill Air Force Base with persistent, reliable and customer-driven mission support through installation security; operational contracting; personnel development; morale, welfare and recreation; logistics operations; community liaison; and emergency response. To present ready, trained and equipped Airmen to combatant commanders worldwide. WHO WE ARE: The Airmen and Civilians of the 75th Mission Support Group are dedicated to the success of the MSG mission. We perform our duties with a sense of pride and determination; always focusing on and anticipating the needs of the customer; executing the fundamentals of our jobs to the very best of our ability; all while adhering to policies, standards and procedures. As one integrated team, we are dependable — especially under pressure — exhibiting a can-do attitude that exemplifies our core values of integrity, excellence and service. We are forward thinking, continually striving to improve our performance, and we treat every member of the group with dignity and respect, always encouraging and promoting the betterment of one another. munication with squadron and air base wing leadership • Institute a collaborative decision-making approach within the mission support group Strategic Plan • Provide actionable options to air base wing leadership for installation challenges .
