Show preparing for deep work two new cables for the centennial eureka mine arrived this week and were hauled up to the mine by the hopes transportation co the cables are feet in length and each cable together with the reel or rack upon which it vas vi as wound for shipment from the factory weighs seven tons the new cables will be used just as soon as the shaft reaches a point v where here the old cables cannot be hand led with safety the cables which are now in use at the centennial eu reka are 2700 feet in length and the shaft haa has now passed the SOO 2900 level it being the intention of the manage ment to continue sinking until the 30 0 level shall have been reached the flow of water which was en encountered in the shaft some time ago has increased somewhat within t the he past few weeks but the sinking pump is handling it in a nice shape and from present indications the is not going to interfere with the shaft work to any extent the flow at this time does not amount to more than 12 gallons in twenty four hours and find aa as soon as a large tank holding about 30 gal ions lons can be placed upon tl e 2000 level it will be possible to store the water until such time as the cages are not in use when it can be hoisted to the surface |
