Show THE SEARCHLIGHT What’s Back of Gus (Continued from preceding page) fairly well known there was reason for the silence of the officers and directors of the Utah Manufacturers Association. Even though they were recently elected to office, and some of them may not have participated in the ‘‘ Build Utah’’ forays, they all appear reluctant to expose the skulduggery of their predecessors in office, and drag the Association skeleton out of the closet for the enlightenment of the public. 'T'wo courses were open to them. They could comply with the demand of the Searchlight for a public audit, thereby exposing a number of politicians and corporation bigwigs. Or, they could keep silent and hope that the editor of the Searchlight would die or would D. H. Thomas—President and stop the agitation for an end to political corruption practiced by pillaging corporations. They kept silent. We believe that our demand for a public audit is fair and just—and in the public interest. We beleve that current officers and directors of the Utah Manufacturers Associa- tion are remiss in their duty toward the public if they fail to take tion and cognizance of Charles E. So that readers may know who is sitting on the lid, we publish herewith the names of the officers and directors of the Utah Manufacturers Association, together with the names of the corporations they represent: Sugar Company Director—Utah-Idaho Clawson—Corporation T. Pollock—Director—American Linen Supply In addition to the foregoing business men who ought to have been informing the public of any pernicious onslaughts against the public welfare, the Utah Manufacturers Association lists KDYL, KSL, the Ogden StandardExaminer, the Tribune, Telegram, and Deseret News, as members. We don’t know what they manufacture that entitles them membership in the Association. It may be propaganda. At any rate, if they were true to their trust as purveyors of news, they should have been acquainting the public with the persistent corruption of the ‘‘ Build Utah’’ division of the Utah Manufacturers Association. There wasn’t a peep out of any- body until the Searchlight dug it up. |
