Robbins described Stoker as a teacher who goes the extra mile for her students. “My daughter invited Miss Stoker to her dance recital. She came and cheered her on, going above and beyond the call of duty. Another child in her class lost his favorite hat, so of course she went out and purchased him a new one, just to let him know he was loved. The stories of her being a hero and making a difference for every child in her class go on and on,” wrote Robbins. KSL Newsradio and Zions Bank are proud sponsors of “Teacher Feature.” Now in its eleventh year on the airwaves, the radio program recognizes the outstanding contributions of local teachers who make a difference in the lives of young people. Teachers are nominated by students, parents, or other teachers to be spotlighted on the radio program. A panel from the Utah State Office of Education, Zions Bank, and KSL Radio review hundreds of nomination letters and select each week’s winning teacher. Then, each Tuesday morning on KSL Radio’s Grant and Amanda show, winners are announced. In recognition of her achievement, Stoker was honored with a commemorative plaque from Zions Bank, a $200 gift certificate for school supplies from Unisource Paper Plus, an overnight stay at The Inn at Temple Square, and a gift certificate for dinner at the La Caille restaurant. All winners are invited to attend an end-of-year banquet in their honor. “As Utah’s oldest bank, Zions has a longstanding commitment to supporting education in the state. We care about the future of Utah, so we make sure to help support and honor talented teachers in every way that we can,” said Blanchard. Chris was a starter on the Varsity team, and played predominately as an outside halfback, but also as a center-mid whenever necessary. Chris was a major contributor beginning his sophomore year on the Boys Varsity Team. Assistant Varsity coach Steve Munson of Nordic Valley states, “Chris’ leadership, skills and hard work helped to bring the State 5A Championship to Weber High. Chris set the standard for the type of play and hard work necessary to win both a Regional and State Championship. Chris has excellent field vision and knows where he has to be to penetrate an opposing team’s defense. His ability to read the field and quick passing game allowed Weber to outscore their opponents throughout the season. In my nine years as a coach at Weber High, he’s one of the finest players I’ve had the opportunity to get to know and coach.” Alan is the son of Brad and Sharon Vause. He was a sophomore at Weber this year, and lettered his first year on the Varsity Team as a back-up goalie. Coach Munson describes Vause, “He possesses good hand and eye coordination and is an extremely aggressive keeper. He’s also very quick and knows how to cut the angles in front of the net to make the opponents shot difficult at best. Alan started all the JV games and finished the JV season with a 9-5-2 record. Alan recorded 4 shutouts in goal on the JV team. The coaches at Weber High are very excited to have Alan coming back in 2005.” AJ is the son of Randy and Barbara Hicks. Playing as a sophomore, AJ was a backup JV goalie and also played center midfielder on the JV team. Munson states, “AJ is an extremely hard worker and added a lot to our JV team. His work ethic and attitude every day at practice served as an excellent example for other members or our team.
