Michael and Kara Scott of Eden had a baby boy on February 26. His name is Keaton Hunter Scott. Summer and B.J. Hogge of Eden had a baby girl on February 28. Gregory and Shantel Watts of Eden had a baby girl on March 18. Her name is Brynlee Watts. Missionaries Elder Courtney D. Venable, son of Chad and Kathy Venable of Liberty, has been called to serve in the Nebraska Omaha Spanish-speaking Mission. He spoke at the North Fork Ward on March 14. Eagle Scouts Darren Craig Tidwell, 13, of Troop 568, North Fork LDS Ward received his Eagle Scout Award. Darren is the son of Darren C. Tidwell and Janalee L. Tidwell of Liberty. He attends Snowcrest Junior High School. Anniversaries Derek and Nada Warnes Derek and Nada Warnes of Eden celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. A family party was held in their honor on March 27 at Jeremiah’s Restaurant. They were married March 5, 1954, in the Logan LDS Temple. Their children and their spouses are Fred and Denise Holley, Mylan and Sue Warnes, Kurt and Tamara Ottley, Paul and Lisa Warnes, and David and Susan Richardson. They have 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Weddings Obituaries Military Honors Jensen-Montgomery E. Leila Woodfield Amy Jensen and Mitch Montgomery were united in marriage in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 6. A dinner was held in their honor at the Salt Lake Country Club that afternoon. An open house was held at the home of the groom’s parents on Saturday, February 7. The bride is the daughter of Scott and Ann Jensen of Salt Lake City. She graduated from Skyline High School and attended Westminster College. She will graduate this spring from the University of Utah. The groom is the son of Ron and Jeanie Montgomery of Huntsville. He graduated from Weber High School, Snow College, and Westminster College. He served an LDS mission to Arkansas and is currently employed with Wells Fargo. After a honeymoon trip to Park City and Hawaii, the couple will reside in Bountiful. NORTH OGDEN - Emma Leila Martin Woodfield, 82, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at her home of pulmonary fibrosis. She was born June 19, 1921 in Malad, Idaho, a daughter of Edward J. and Emma Hawkins Martin. She lived in Malad and Samaria, Idaho before moving to West Ogden. She graduated from Ogden High School and eventually made her home in North Ogden. Leila married Howard Charles Woodfield on October 3, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as a Primary Teacher and Relief Society Chorister. Leila enjoyed crocheting, quilting and crossword puzzles. Surviving are her husband of North Ogden; one son and two daughters, Alan Howard Woodfield, North Ogden; Elaine W. Story, Liberty; LaRae W. Crippen, Fredricksburg, Virginia; five grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents and six brothers. Funeral services were held Monday, March 8, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the North Ogden 12th Ward Chapel, 600 East 1791 North. Interment, North Ogden/Ben Lomond Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Gary O. Christensen for his professional service; also VistaCare Hospice, their staff, and volunteers. Email condolences to the family at <lom@lindquistmortuary.com> Blackinton-Austin Jerianne Blackinton and Ryan Klomp Austin were united in marriage March 16 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The ceremony was officiated by his grandfather Spencer J. Klomp. A reception was held in their honor at the Ivy Lane Reception Center. The bride is the daughter of James and Dixie Blackinton of Ogden. She graduated from Weber State University in elementary education and teaches fifth-grade at Horace Mann Elementary School. Parents of the bridegroom are F. Richard and Kathleen Austin of Layton. He served in the Japan Fukuoka LDS Mission, attends WSU, and plans to attend dental school. The couple will reside in Eden after their honeymoon to Mexico. Please send your announcements & photos to: SSG Todd M. Bair In Honor of SSG Todd M. Bair SSG Todd M. Bair, son of Toni V. and Patricia A Bair of Nordic Valley, was recently deployed to Iraq for the second time. His first tour of duty was in January 1991 during Desert Storm. Todd is assigned to the 1/26 Infantry. Todd took his basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia where he was selected along with one other recruit in their Company to attend advanced infantry training. He drove a Bradley Fighting Vehicle for the Company Commander during his first tour of duty in Iraq. Todd received a Distinguished Service Medal for singlehandedly capturing a Republican National guardsman who was spying on the military compound Todd and others wee guarding while they awaited the arrival of the Bradleys and M-1 Tanks. Todd attended school in Bountiful and Draper prior to leaving for Virginia with his parents when his father was recruited to become Warden of Virginia’s Mecklenburg Supermax prison. Todd graduated from Huguenot Academy in Virginia where his mother was the principal of the school. Shortly after graduation, Todd joined the Army where he has truly found his calling; he is proud to be called to Iraq for the second time to defend his country and to put to use the skills that the Army has taught him over the past 11 years. Arthur Charles Herrmann, 81, passed away on March 7, 2004 at McKay Dee Hospital. He was born July 19, 1922 to Charles Robert and Anna Henkes Herrmann at Chicago, Illinois. He married Dorthy May Brown December 31, 1961 at Salt Lake City, Utah. Arthur served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
