As they visited, Peterson was invited and commissioned by Bush to create the portrait sculpture of his son George W. for placement in the White House in Washington D.C. Much of Peterson’s art reflects his love for the outdoors and his interests in hunting and fishing. His wildlife bronzes have been placed in collections across the United States. Following an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Craig attended Weber State University where he studied art, casting his first bronze in 1974. Later he studied under the well-known sculptor Edward J. Fraughton. Peterson is a lifelong resident of Huntsville. Journey’s “Lovin, Celebrate Shakespeare! Festival Touchin, & Returns to Ogden The fifth annual Celebrate Shakespeare! Collections. Period music by Duo Dolce will Squeezin” Ogden This year, the Weber County Fair will headline the group Journey with a concert performance in the 6000-seat Outdoor Stadium at the Golden Spike Event Center on August 12. Journey is noted as a group that has fantastic vocals and instrumentals. Some of their top hits include, “Wheel in the Sky,” “Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin,” and “Don’t Stop Believen.” Journey began as a group in 1973, with original guitarist Neal Schon, who was a member of Santana in 1971-72. Steve Perry joined the group in 1977 as the lead vocalist and front man. The results were immediately felt as their fourth album, “Infinity” (1978) was released and sold over a million copies. Their latest album was released in 2002 titled “Red 13.” The Fabulous Thunderbirds will open for Journey on Thursday night. Fans will remember some of their tops hits such as “Tuff Enuff” and “Wrap it Up.” They are best know for their devotion to the sounds of Blues, R&B, and Rock n’ Roll. On Wednesday night, August 11, country singer Brad Paisley, a three time CMA Award winner with back-to-back platinum albums, will entertain crowds with his blend of Country music that is well known and loved. Tickets are $20.00 for Wednesday night’s performance, and $25.00 for Thursday night’s, and will include admission to the fair. The floor is reserved seating, with the balance being firstcome-first-serve stadium style seating. Weber County Fair Manager Jan Wilson states that she is excited to have Journey, Brad Paisley, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds come to this year’s fair. “We are looking forward to a fantastic fair, and having these great performers be a part of it.” Concert tickets go on sale at 9:00 a.m. June 1, 2004. Festival will feature “Twelfth Night,” William Shakespeare’s best loved comedy. A series of free public events will be held between March 23 and April 8. No tickets are required. The 75-minute performance by the Utah Shakespearean Festival Touring Group will conclude with a discussion between the audience and the actors, who play multiple roles in the abridged production. The Cedar City based group will also perform that morning for high school students, followed by discussion and student workshops. This year’s lecture focuses on the many remakes of Shakespeare’s plays in a variety of formats. At 10:00 a.m. April 5, Stephen Francis, history teacher at Weber State University, will combine his expertise in British and Shakespearean history with a variety of film clips in his multimedia presentation, “Remaking Shakespeare: Cinema and Twentieth Century America.” New to the festival, the Ogden Drama Club will present “The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Town Women’s Guild Dramatic Society’s Production of Macbeth,” a readers’ theater satire, April 6 at 1:00 p.m. Both the lecture and the readers’ theater will be held in the Stewart Library Special precede both the readers’ theater performance and the evening performance by the touring group. Four feature films round out this year’s festival, shown in Special Collections at 1:00 p.m., and at the Weber County Main Library Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. The 1988 HBO production of “West Side Story” (a 1961 remake of “Romeo and Juliet”) will be held April 7; and “Looking for Richard” (a 1998 remake of “Richard III”) April 8. Celebrate Shakespeare! is sponsored by the Friends of the Stewart Library in partnership with the Ogden School Foundation, the WSU English Department and Ogden High School. All events are free to the public. The touring group, under the direction of Michael Don Bahr, draws professional actors from throughout the United States and performs annually throughout the West.
