Courtney Bostwich and Jessica McDonald took 2nd place in Physics. Kyle Combe and Matt Dove also placed 2nd in Physics. Ashley Hedges placed 2nd in Microbiology and received the Discovery Award for Young Scientists. This award referred to her ability to discuss her project and its results with the judges. Lorenzo Bishop placed 2nd in Physics as did Sierra Trejos and Megan Brandt. Natalie Rich and Laura Brown placed 3rd in Microbiology. Britain Sorensen and Justin Pack also placed 3rd in Microbiology. Melanie Miles placed 3rd in Microbiology, and Chris Lanier placed 3rd in Physics. Great job scientists! Children First Utah 2003 Scholarship Applications Available at Zions Bank Zions Bank recently announced its continued support of Children First Utah, an organization that provides children of all ages, of low-income families, with partial scholarships for attending their school of choice. Children First Utah scholarships pay up to one-half of a student’s yearly tuition, up to a maximum of $1,700. Zions Bank will make scholarship applications available at each of its 127 branch locations throughout Utah. Applications are also available online at www.childrenfirstutah.org. Children First Utah expects to award up to 300 scholarships for the 2003-2004 school year. Families with children entering kindergarten through the eighth grade are eligible for scholarships based on family size and income. Applications are accepted through March 9, 2003. The program is patterned after Children First America, a national organization that has provided scholarships for thousands of low-income children.
