The cost of the walks is “enthusiasm;” we take care of the rest. The walks make a great family activity, and provide a superb way to introduce children to nature. Meet at the Wild Bird Center, located in the Layton Market Center, Exit 335 off I-15, (across from Barnes & Noble) at 1860 North 1000 West, Layton. The Wild Bird Center Nature/Bird Walk departs at 8:00 a.m. Bring binoculars, and dress for the weather. Acclaimed Exhibit Scheduled for This Fall This fall, Utah residents will experience our natural world in a whole new way—through the lenses of some of the world’s most famous photographers. The Nature Conservancy of Utah, and the Utah Museum of Natural History have joined forces to bring an acclaimed exhibit to Salt Lake City. At In Response to Place, visitors will encounter some of the Conservancy’s most beautiful and moving preserves as captured by such artists as Annie Leibovitz, William Wegman, Mary Ellen Mark, and Ally Mann. In addition to the photography exhibit, In Response to Place will feature educational programs for children and adults, including a lecture series with local conservation and art experts, filed trips and photography workshops. WORKSHOPS AND FIELDTRIPS Shoreline Theater: A Backstage Peek at the Wetlands Drama October 12 – 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Naturalist Bruce Thompson answers the important question: “What is a wetland?” with a guided fieldtrip to explore plants and animals at The Nature Conservancy’s Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve.
