Eden, UT 84310 Huntsville Proposes Skatepark Want to sk8 the Valley? The Huntsville Town Council has approved a preliminary proposal to build a street style skatepark. A committee has been formed to pursue the development of this skatepark. The facility would be designed for skateboards and rollerblades. The current plan is to use manufactured ramps and rails from a company called Skatewave. Ramps are made from steel, and are covered with an all-weather surfacing (rampage or skateskin). The ramps would be placed on a cement pad poured with pre and post-tensile tension to prevent any lines or cracks in the cement surface. The Skatepark Committee is excited, and hoping to generate additional support for this project. If you want it to happen, you have to get involved! We need all skaters to help us on this one! Skating provides a great opportunity for safe, fun, and free recreation for kids of all ages who skate or rollerblade. A skatepark also provides a place away from the street, and away from private businesses where skaters can practice their sport and get a lot of great exercise. The Skatepark Committee is asking for residents to come and catch the vision at a public skatepark meeting to be held at the Ogden Valley Library on Tuesday, February 5, at 7:30 p.m. Proposed skate park in Huntsville. Moose Hollow at Wolf Creek to Host Olympic Skiers (Eden, UT) John Lewis, Developer and Property Manager for the Moose Hollow condominiums at Wolf Creek Resort, is pleased to welcome Downhill skiers from five different countries as they prepare for their few minutes of thrills on the Grizzly Downhill run at Snowbasin. . According to John Lewis “ The athletes attaché’s contacted me over a year ago to make their accommodation arrangements. Since the athletes generally prefer to stay as close to the venues as possible, and there were very few lodging choices in the Valley that could accommodate the kind of numbers included in their entourages, we were a great choice. The Austrian team and entourage include more than 70 people! ” Moose Hollow offers 72, privately owned and fully furnished condominiums, which can accommodate up to eight folks apiece.” Over 170 male athletes, coaches and team chefs from Austria, Canada, Italy, France, Croatia and Slovenia will be calling Moose Hollow and Wolf Creek home for most of February. Local residents are encouraged to welcome these athletes to the Valley— give them a cheer if you see them. They are easy to spot in their colorful spandex uniforms! It’s quite possible that we will have a gold medal winner amongst us in the Valley! In honor of their distinguished guests, the clubhouse at Wolf Creek Resort will be sporting colorful flags from each of the countries, and will be hosting several events for the athletes, which will be announced later in February. |
