Letters to the Editor Junior High District Choir Concert was Terrific! On April 3, 2001, my daughter had the opportunity to participate in the Weber School District Choir Festival that included seven different junior high choirs. The seven schools were Snowcrest, Rocky Mountain, North Ogden, T.H. Bell, Wahlquist, Roy, and Sand Ridge. It was wonderful! Each school’s performance was outstanding. Mr. Wooden, Music Director at Snowcrest, should be complemented for doing such a fine job with the choir. They were one of the best to perform. Ms. Kathy Robinson was the guest conductor for the combined choir finale, which included about 400 students. She did an exceptional job in bringing the voices and arrangements together in such a short period of time, and deserves special acknowledgement. Congratulations not just to Mr. Wooden and Ms. Robinson but to all of the choir directors and especially the students for an outstanding performance. If you missed it this year, put it on your calendar for next year. It’s going to be one you want to hear. And if you don’t, I’ll always think you should’ve. Corrections In the April 15, 2001 issue of the OGDEN VALLEY NEWS, a front page article regarding the Mormon Muffin Olympic Pins stated that Rainbow Gardens, The Greenery Restaurant, and Planet Rainbow were the creators of the Mormon Muffin Pin. The article should have stated that Planet Rainbow at Rainbow Gardens is the creator of the Mormon Muffin Pin, and also, that Planet Rainbow at Rainbow Gardens has been taking the orders for the pins. OVBA Announces Community Contest to Create Business Logo The Ogden Valley Business Association (OVBA) is sponsoring a community contest to create a logo for the newly formed Ogden Valley Business Association. First place will be $100 in gift certificates good for use in Valley Businesses. There will be a second prize of a $50 Saving Bond for the best logo developed from a Snow Crest Jr. High School student. The new logo will be used to identify participating community businesses as members of the OVBA. This logo may be placed on the front door/window of participating community businesses. It may also be used for OVBA banners, letterhead, merchandise, community web site, and OVBA Business advertising. The guidelines for the OVBA logo are as follows: The design must be scaleable so that it can easily be enlarged or shrunk. The design should be simple in design and color, and capture the flavor of the Ogden Valley. All entries should be submitted in a form with a maximum size of 8 x 11 inches. All entries are due by 20 May 2001. The winners of the contest will be awarded their prizes and have their picture taken and placed in The OGDEN VALLEY NEWS. UDOT Announces I-15 Project and Environmental Study Weber County - The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) announces a road project on I-15 from 31st Street in Ogden to 2700 North in Farr West. The project is now underway and will necessitate an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) by 2003, which will make recommendations regarding future construction improvements along this stretch of roadway. As a safety precaution, UDOT advises the public that crews will be conducting roadway and environmental studies along I-15 and cross-streets in the area. Surveyors, scientists and engineers may also need to access nearby properties. UDOT acknowledges the importance of identifying and considering all project-related issues. The public will be given opportunities to participate in a series of open houses beginning this summer. Committees including local government representatives and special interest groups have been established to provide assistance and input throughout the project. Comments or questions concerning the project should be directed to Andy Neff, UDOT Region One Public Involvement Coordinator, at 801-3995921 x282. Massage Therapy Springtime means increased activity.
