Tyler and Lance are presently at the Intermountain Burn Unit at the University of Utah Hospital recovering with burn scars over 95 percent of their bodies. For the next year and a half, to two years, the two will have to wear special wetsuit like, nylon support clothing that compresses the skin and prevents scar tissue from growing outward and causing lumps. They will wear the “second skin” 23 1/2 hours a day, taking it off only for a shower. They have begun taking steps and have progressed from feeding tubes to feeding themselves, and from breathing with the help of machines to breathing on their own. The boys can eat whatever they want now. Tyler’s stomach had shrunken to the size of a marble with the feeding tubes in.
