Working as a travel consultant for Morris Travel, Tami was given the opportunity to travel. She has traveled extensively throughout the United States, particularly the Western Region; Mexico; Canada; New Zealand; Europe; the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Tami states, “The memories of different cultures, architecture, and the spectacular sights that nature has to offer all influence my work. “I love living and working in our inhabitants of the Americas. I believe the petroglyphs are another form of history left by these people. We have an abundance of petroglyph sites in Utah, many only a few hours drive away. “I am also captivated by the use of collage. I enjoy putting together many theme collages such as romantic, floral, nature, wildlife, pets or whatever may capture my interest. I use a variety of found objects, handmade and decorative papers. This technique is also used to create Art CardsTM and the covers of my Spirit JournalsTM—a book that lets its owner record aspirations, dreams and memories that touch their soul.” Tami says that she loves having people drop by her studio at 2659 N. 3770 E. in Eden, just east of the Nordic Golf Course. There you can find several gift items that will save the local Valley resident a trip to town. Tami quips that her hours are, “Whenever I’m home,” so you may want to call her before dropping by, at 7450616. Tami’s exhibit at the Terrace Plaza Art Gallery began on September 29, and will run until Halloween. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Gallery contact is Bob Woodruff at (801) 479-1734. Ms. Proctor says that she would like to send out a message of hope and encouragement. As mentioned, she began her art career after a long and continuing battle with chronic pain. “I would like to encourage anyone who suffers from chronic pain or other disabling illnesses to look within yourself to find what truly makes you happy. Enjoy each day that God has given you, and make the best of it. Center yourself and focus on the good things in life. Do whatever it takes to find authentic happiness.” dickd@wardleygmac.com |
