She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. She Darrell LaMar Weller Darrell LaMar Weller, 83, died Sunday, October 30, 2011. He was born July 9, 1928 in Marriott, Utah at his Grandma’s house to Willard H. and Verna Stanger Weller. Darrell was the youngest of three sons. He was Darrell Weller raised and educated in Ogden where he played football for Ogden High School and Weber State College. Darrell married Lynette Fronk on June 7, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they had four children. Darrell owned and operated Coop’s Independent Market for 24 years. After closing the store, he went to work and retired Arthur Leon Murray, Jr. Arthur Leon Murray, Jr., age 81, passed away November 8, 2011 of natural causes. He was born November 18, 1929 to Clara Leora Mortensen Murray and Arthur Leon “Bud” Murray in Ogden, Arthur Murray Utah. His father passed away when he was just four years old and he and his brother Jim worked from a young age to take care of their widowed mother for the rest of her life. Art would carry a tender spot for widows throughout his life and always extended himself to care for them. He was raised in Ogden and enlisted in the United States Army, serving at Ft. Benning, Georgia in the military police. He returned to Ogden and later married Helen Irene Reed in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. Art and Irene lived in South Ogden while Art worked as a brick mason building many schools, churches, and homes in the Weber County area. They were blessed with two children, Arthur Ross and Cindy. In 1968 they fulfilled a dream of building a house in Eden Joseph Geddes Murray Joseph Geddes Murray was born August 8, 1930 to Maude Geddes and Thomas Harrison Murray. He grew up in Pleasant View, Plain City, and Ogden, Utah. He married Floy Christensen in Logan LDS Temple on Joseph Murray the June 17, 1949. He was one of the first Eagle Scouts in Plain City and lived the Scout Oath and Promise throughout his life. He influenced the lives of many young men for good as a Scoutmaster for more than 20 years. He was awarded the Silver Beaver. Joseph was a firefighter for 37 years and retired as the Ogden City Fire Chief. He served as a State Legislator from 1994 to 2006. He served as Bishop, teacher, quorum leader, High Councilor, and as a faithful home teacher in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of his favorite callings was teaching gospel doctrine. He had a strong testimony and lived accordingly. Joseph was our father and mentor and taught us the Gospel of Jesus Christ and many other life skills. He could fix or build almost anything. He built a cabin with the help of his family over 32 years ago, which has created sweet memories and wonderful times ever since. He loved his eternal companion and his family. He was very proud of all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Joseph is survived by Floy, children Susan (Jerry) Baker, Stuart (Brenda) Murray, Patricia Pitt Brenchley (late Jim Pitt), Russell (Annette) Murray, Carolyn (Randy) Tometich, and Richard (Tiffany) Murray; 33 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; foster daughter Charlotte Brown; and his brother Evan Murray. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Hugh, Clair, Margaret, Faye, Martena, Louann, and one grandchild, Zachary Tometich. It was surely a glorious reunion for him and his family on the other side of the veil. Funeral services were held Saturday, Inspirational Thought “. . . You will be forever in our prayers! from Weber State University. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, and held many callings throughout the years. He had a keen wit with a joke for any occasion, and was a friend to all. Darrell could, and did fix or build just about anything. He would help anyone who needed help at any time and taught his children to do the same. Darrell is survived by his wife, Lynette; sons Grant (Tami); Steven (Dawn); and daughter Teri. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 6½ great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter Jann, both parents, and both brothers. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Pleasant Valley Stake Center, 5640 S. 850 East, S. Ogden, Utah. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery. Art loved working on his land, riding the horses the family owned, bird hunting with his champion dogs, and fishing in the Monte Cristo area. Art was later employed as an electrician at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1988, then continued to work as the owner of Fisher and Lopi Stoves of Eden. For the past three years, Art and Irene have lived in Riverdale. He will be remembered for his work ethic, his love of laughter, and for his persistence in standing up for what he thought was right. Art is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roland James Murray; son-in-law, Grant E. Maybury; and grandson, Jordan R. Murray. He is survived by his wife, Irene; son, Ross (Lorna) Murray; daughter, Cindy Maybury; sister-in-laws, Lorraine Murray and Marjorie Hawks; and brother-in-law Kenneth Reed. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Derek (Cyndi) and Rachel Murray; Kyle (Cebu), Lee, Christopher Maybury, and greatgrandson, Grant Edward Maybury; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the many caregivers who have helped care for Art. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Interment, Meadow View Cemetery where military honors were accorded. November 12, 2011 at the Lorin Farr Stake Center, 480 7th Street, Ogden. Dean Manning Hadley, 87, died October 31, 2011. Elva Montgomery Thompson Mary Elva Montgomery Thompson, 98, a truly special and remarkable woman, returned to her Heavenly Father November 6, 2011. She was born November 26, 1912 in Liberty, Utah Elva Thompson the daughter of John Alva and Mary Elizabeth Holmes Montgomery. She married Daniel Wells Thompson January 21, 1931 in the SLC Temple. Wells died October 14, 1974. Elva was a life-long resident of Ogden Valley and was a devoted member of the Huntsville 1st Ward where she served in many church callings. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Our mother and grandmother was an extraordinary woman with a loving heart, teachable ways, and continual service to family and friends. Her passion for creativity benefitted us all through her paintings, gorgeous quilts, adorable dolls, cherished sock monkeys, June Heslop Cobabe Our loving mother, grandmother, and wife, June Heslop Cobabe, 94, peacefully passed away at her home in Eden, Utah, November 6, 2011. June was born June 12, 1917 to William Henry Heslop and Icivinda Taylor Heslop in June Cobabe Plain City, Utah. June graduated from Weber County High School with high honors and from Ogden Beauty School with honors. She married Alvin Fred Cobabe on November 10, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were celebrating their 74 years together. We will miss her greatly. June had many interests, but her family and church always came first. June was proud to be a beautician and her friends and family benefited from her skills. She was a wonderful homemaker, enjoyed cooking, sewing, and raising four daughters. She was an award-winning quilter and she crocheted dozens of afghans that she shared with family and friends. June and Dr. Cobabe loved traveling and June was the navigator as Dr. Cobabe flew them in their own plane around the United States. She supported her husband in his many endeavors. She helped with company bookkeeping, medical school, and with his medical holiday pajamas, and special memories of chicken noodle soup and warm cinnamon rolls. She worked in various jobs throughout her life, but she always would say, “My greatest accomplishment was raising my beautiful family.” Elva is survived by her three children: Rex Thompson of West Haven, Glen (Janet) Thompson of Huntsville, and Lois (Steve) Jeffs of Huntsville; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Thompson of Grace, Idaho; 19 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 29 great-greatgrandchildren; her brother Merlin J (Norene) Montgomery; and her sister LaVon Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband; her son Jay Earl Thompson; a grandson; 2 great-granddaughters; two daughters -in-law, Ann and LuJean Thompson; 2 brothers; and a sister. Special thanks to Robin Hancock for her care of our mother, and the caring staff at Vista Care and Washington Terrace Care Center. Arrangement entrusted to Myers Ogden Mortuary. practice. She helped to develop and was coowner of Powder Mountain Ski Resort. Many of her days were spent making scones and soups at the ski resort. When she wasn’t working, she loved to watch the skiers and to get to know the guests. She loved being active in the LDS church and served in many positions during her life, including being the President of the Utah Deaf School Primary. She received an award for her 15 years of service. June is survived by her husband Alvin Fred Cobabe, M.D., daughters Gayla (Wayne) Folkman, St. George, Utah; Shawna (Clair) Van Meeteren, Eden, Utah; and Aleta (Marc) Paulsen, Eden, Utah. Also, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 18 step great-grandchildren, and 11 step greatgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Weldon and Lamont Heslop, daughter Carolyn Lowther, granddaughter Yvonne Lowther, and grandson Adam Kash Van Meeteren. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Entombment, Leavitt’s Aultorest Mausoleum.
