Davis, 52, died Sunday, 27 Jul 08, following an accident sustained while working on his home. He was born 29 October 1955 in Ogden Utah to Melvin and Dorothy Williams Davis. Garth graduated Garth Davis from Clearfield High School in 1973. In 1981 he married Arleen B. Tribe Nielsen. Garth went back to school in 1993 graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry with a Physics Minor from Weber State University in 1995. Over the last ten years Garth has been a System Engineer for Northrop Grumman on the Rocket System Launch Program. Garth greatly enjoyed his job and the people he worked with. He had been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 2472, serving Kyle B. Crompton SANTIAGO, Chile – Kyle Boyd Crompton, 50, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2008 of a brain aneurysm, doing what he loved, skiing in the Chilean Andes. He was born June Kyle Crompton 1, 1958 in Denver, Colorado, the son of the late Dona Rees Crompton and Boyd William Crompton. Kyle married the love of his life, Astrid Farias, on October 18, 1993 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She met Kyle in Chile when he relocated there for work. In many ways she helped him acclimate to life in South America. They were blessed with two children, Intai and Amy. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Kyle grew up in the Ogden area and moved to Huntsville with his family in 1971. Kyle loved the outdoors, especially skiing, which he did every free moment he had. He was an Eagle Scout earning many merit badges and obtaining the Order of the Arrow. Kyle had a great love of music and was a talented pianist. He made friends very easily and had a contagious smile and VaLee R. Bailey, “Togther Again” V a L e e R a smussen VaLee Bailey Bailey, 54, died Sunday, August 3, 2008 at her home in Ogden. She was born April 19, 1954 in Ogden, the second daughter of Philo and Phillis Rasmussen. VaLee married Von “Duck” Bailey on November 20, 1976 in Huntsville. “Duck” preceded her in death on November 24, 2003. She was raised and educated in Ogden, graduating from Ben Lomond High School. She lived in Beatty, Nevada for one year following her marriage. She returned to Ogden where she lived the remainder of one year on the Board of Trustees. He was also a member of the LDS Church and The American Legion Post 129. Garth enjoyed fly fishing, camping and the continuing work to complete the construction of his home in Huntsville. He is survived by his wife Arleen, son Scott (Dakova) Nielsen, daughter-in-Law Kara Nielsen, brothers Brent (Judith) Davis, Blair (Shelly) Davis, Reed (Kerrie) Davis, Sisters Diane Bennett, Nancy (Gary) Draper, Sheila (Gary) Cook, Valerie Davis, Maureen (Lynn) Gardner, and five grandchildren Briana, Kyra, Brett, Destinee and Devin. A viewing was held Friday, August 1, 2008, after which a private family memorial followed at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 E. 36th St, Ogden. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Trout Unlimited. Following graduation from Weber High School in 1976, he traveled across the United States working in the oil fields. This experience led him to return to Weber State University to get an education in geology. This propelled him on his way to becoming an engineering geologist. The last 20 years he worked for Vector Engineering, 16 of which were spent in South America. At the time of his death, Kyle was the general manager over operations in Chile. Kyle will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Surviving are his wife Astrid; son, Intai; and daughter, Amy—all of Santiago, Chile; father, Boyd W. (Dorothy) Crompton, South Ogden; brother, Kurtis D. (Tammy) Crompton, Huntsville; uncle, Dr. Richard D. (Terry) Rees, Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. His mother and grandparents preceded Kyle in death. Funeral services were held in Santiago, Chile followed by cremation. Half of his cremains will remain in Chile and half will be brought to Utah for distribution over the Wasatch Mountains. VaLee was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked at Bank of Utah for two years after returning from Beatty, Nevada. She then began her career at Hill Air Force Base retiring after 25 years of service. VaLee was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. She loved her children, babies, her dogs, cooking, shopping, and family gettogethers. Surviving are one son and one daughter, Chancey Bailey and Emily (McClain) Lindquist, both of Ogden; her parents, Philo and Phillis Rasmussen, Farr West; one brother, Lanny (Claudine) Rasmussen, Fish Haven, ID; and two sisters, Linda (Edward) Boothe, Plain City; and Sharon (Richard) Bodrero, Nibley, UT. Preceding VaLee in death was her husband, Von “Duck” Bailey. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 7 at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with McClain Lindquist officiating. Derek Alan Ogle Derek Alan Ogle, 37 died Saturday, July 26 at his home in Hoopa, California. Born on Mother’s Day, May 9, 1971, Derek was a friend to the friendless and a champion of the underdog. He had a Derek Ogle great love of nature and enjoyed long hikes with his brother Damon and his dogs Legend and Wovoka. Whether rock climbing, scuba diving, or flying an airplane; Derek was happiest when testing nature and the elements. Derek spent his early years in California, Virginia, and Montana, graduating from University High School in Irvine, California in 1990. He attended Washington State University in Pullman, WA. Derek left WSU and worked for Lewis Homes in Eden, Utah for a number of years, leaving in 1997 to return to school. He attended Sierra Community College in Sacramento, CA where, in 1998, he obtained an AA degree in Liberal Arts. Continuing at Humboldt State University, Derek graduated in 2000 in the field of Native American Studies with a BA degree in Law and Government Options. Following his love for the study of law, Derek earned his paralegal certificate and hoped to complete a law degree; thus, allowing him to continue working for the Native American tribes. Spending much of his time on the Hoopa Indian Reservation, Derek developed a great respect for Native American culture and worked to support Indian rights. It seemed he found a quiet peace among the Redwoods, rivers, and beaches of Northern California. Derek is survived by a precious little daughter, Rebekah Rose; his parents, Gilbert and Penny Ogle of Eden; two sisters, Michelle (William) Zak of Palos Verdes, CA and Melissa (John) Lewis of Eden, UT; a brother, Damon Ogle of Seattle, WA; his paternal grandmother, Twila Ogle of Wakefield, NE; and his maternal grandmother, Ellen Eden of Eden, UT; eight nieces and nephews: John Michael, Jacob, Julianne and Jessica Lewis of Eden, UT; Elisabeth, Kimberley, and Christine Zak of Palos Verdes, CA; and Avery Ogle of Seattle, WA. He also had the love of many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Glade Ogle and two maternal grandfathers: Lyle D Bunce and John Eden, and two special Uncles: Donald Ogle and Richard Ogle. Remember Derek, a mother’s love is unconditional and enduring; a family’s love is forever. We will all love you forever and keep you in our hearts . . .
