Show Page The Ogden Valley news Volume XV Issue XVI August 1, 200 Announcements Obituaries (cont. from page 7) Shirley Rae Jorgensen Morby Early on Monday, July 14, 2008, Shirley lost her 35 year courageous battle with diabetes. After she sipped her last breath she slipped quietly through the thin Shirley Morby veil that separates us from Heavenly Father and joined her loved ones who had marked the way before. Shirley was born September 12, 1934 in Los Angeles, California to Howard C. and Flora R. Wallwork Jorgensen and lived much of her early years in Pasadena, California. In her teenage years she lived with her grandmother, Olive Wallwork, in Ogden, Utah who taught well the way of living a righteous life. She attended and graduated from Ogden High School. It was in her history class during her senior year that Shirley met a young man who, after their first date, proved to be her eternal sweetheart. She married Glen E. Morby on April 24, 1953 in the Logan LDS Temple and began a blissful and beautiful relationship that has lasted for more than 55 years. They have loved and served each other well for all those years creating a family of nine children and have been blessed with 39 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Shirley was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ben Lomond 12th Ward. She had served in many callings over the years such as a Sunday School and Primary Teacher, Den Mother, Relief Society Counselor, and a Family History extractor. She served a two year mission in the Ogden Temple as an ordinance worker. Her greatest calling was that of “Mother.” She loved history and learning about her heritage and going to family reunions. Yet with all of this, her real passion was found in doing family research work. During her lifetime she submitted over 8,500 names to the temple for ordinance work. Shirley was a wonderful cook and could make a great meal from just about anything, but her real pleasure in life was to be with her children and grandchildren. There was nothing better than to watch them swim in the pool and have a picnic. Her love of music built a great relationship with her children. Shirley made a lot of friends while employed in the school lunch program at North Ogden Jr. High School for 10 years. Her unselfish attitude and willingness to serve others was one of her greatest characteristics. She was truly loved. Surviving are her husband and eight children: Michael G. Morby, Harrisville; Kathryn M. Fortie, Smithfield; Douglas C. (Carola) Morby, Mesa, AZ; David T. (Valerie) Morby, Liberty; Drew A. (Lisa) Morby, North Ogden; Kristen M. (Curtis) Hoskins, Sunset; 36 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one sister, Barbara Kimber, Woods Cross; and one sister-inlaw, Kathy Jorgensen, North Ogden.
