Show Page 10 The Ogden Valley news Volume XV Issue XII June 1, 2008 New Business in Eden Offers Recreational Equipment and Accessories The Recreation Club is your one stop store for all the recreational equipment or accessories you need. Club Rec. has multiple locations throughout Utah. We do the onwater rentals at Willard Bay, East Canyon, and Pineview. The Northern Utah headquarters is in Clearfield. Other locations include Eden, Draper, Heber City, and St. George. The recreational equipment we carry includes boats, personal watercraft, ATVs, snowmobiles, motor homes, and sand rails. The main focus of our business is memberships. The membership program gives people the opportunity to enjoy everyone of these activities without having to purchase, store, maintain, or register their own equipment. It’s a hassle-free way of enjoying everything Ogden Valley has to offer. This first year in Eden we will be offering a one year trial membership so people can see the advantages of being a member rather that owning. All of our other memberships are for three years. With a lot of the homes in Ogden Valley being bought by part time residents, this is a great program for them so they can have all of these things without buying, storing, or hauling them. It’s the ultimate membership club for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy participating in these activities. For those who don’t want to worry about anything but having fun, this is definitely the way to go. Club Rec. also offers memberships that include delivery, hassle free dropoffs, free pickup at Pineview, and more. Service is the key to the membership program. Instead of having memories filled with hassles and problems, start making memories of great family fun! All of Club Rec.’s equipment is rotated yearly, so you are always guaranteed reliable machines. Club Rec. also offers daily rentals to non-members. We are currently the sole permitee on Pineview Reservoir, providing rentals, lessons, guiding for fishing, and all other guiding activities. Club Rec. is located at the Cemetery Point Marina in Huntsville. We have fishing boats, pontoon boats, ski boats, high end wakeboard boats, personal watercraft, kayaks, and pedal boats. The equipment is in the water and ready to go when you get there. Reservations fill up fast, so call and reserve today. During the winter, snowmobile rentals and tours are also offered. Our new store by Diamond Peak in Eden will focus on membership sales, service, and retail. The retail products we will carry are: • Boating accessories, gear, and clothing • Off-road accessories and gear • Maintenance accessories • Hunting/archery gear • Snowmobile clothing and gear include Quiksilver, Roxy, O’Neill, Reef, Connelly, CWB, Proline, Scott, SWS, Ocean Minded, Vibram Fivefingers, Kings Shadow Camo, Marsupium Packs, Scentloc, Surf-n-Sea Pyremeds, Amsoil, and Innova Disc Golf. The Recreation Club is owned and operated by Casey Pratt, Levi Melehes, and Paul Avner. Casey and Levi both grew up in the Valley and lived there until they were married. Paul is married to Levi’s sister, who also grew up in Ogden Valley. Pratt comments, “With this history in the Valley, we are familiar with the locals who have been here for a long time. We also have a strong love for the Valley. This is why we have multiple programs in place to help keep the Valley as green as we can. We understand and have seen the growth that has taken place, and although we know it will continue to grow, we feel that with the right education and viable programs, we can maintain the beauty of the Valley while still enjoying the great activities that the Valley’s resources offer.” To help with this, Levi represents The Recreation Club as the chairman of the motor sports committee on Ogden City’s High Adventure Sports Committee. Pratt adds, “Our future plans are to grow with the Valley and expand to meet the demands in the motor-sport industry for residents and visitors alike. We hope to see enough demand to open a full-fledge dealership for year-round motor sports equipment. We are currently seeking new ways to offer more guiding services to satisfy the needs of the thrill seekers, and those who are looking to enjoy the day with their families. Club Rec. will open its doors this Memorial Day weekend. Through the month of June, company owners will offer door prizes and special deals. For more information, call (801) 614-0500 or visit www.clubrec.com for membership information, and www. clubrecnorth.com for rentals. Club Rec.’s new store in Eden is located at 2429 Highway 158 Suite 1 next to Diamond Peak. Fish for Free on June 7 If you’re looking for a fun activity that’s close to home and doesn’t cost much, mark June 7 on your calendar. June 7 is Free Fishing Day in Utah! You won’t need a fishing license to fish in the state that day. “Fishing is an activity that’s fun for people of all ages—everyone in your family can enjoy it,” says Roger Wilson, cold water sport fisheries coordinator for the Division of Wildlife Resources. “We offer Free Fishing Day to attract people to an outdoor activity they can enjoy for the rest of their life.” Before Free Fishing Day, DWR personnel will stock extra fish into waters across Utah. Wilson says most of the fish will be placed in lakes and reservoirs. Utah’s community fishing ponds are another good place to consider fishing on June 7. Depending on where you live, a community pond might be just a few minutes away. To learn more about Utah’s community fishing ponds, please visit <www.wildlife.utah.gov/cf/> Know the Rules You don’t need a license to fish on June 7, but all of the other regulations in the 2008 Utah Fishing Guidebook will still be in effect. All anglers, especially those who might be fishing for the first time, are encouraged to obtain a copy of the guide- book and learn the rules. The guidebook is available at the DWR’s Web site (wildlife.utah.gov/guidebooks) and from fishing license agents and DWR offices. Several free fishing events for kids will be held on Free Fishing Day. In Northern Utah, DWR will be involved with the Bear River Celebration and Free Fishing Day. The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Willow Park, 419 W. 700 S. People of all ages can enjoy free fishing at Skylar’s Pond. Volunteers will check out fishing equipment. They’ll also be available to help first-time anglers. Activity booths, for those ages 4 to 18, also will be available. The first 300 youths who visit the booths and complete their “passport to fun” will receive a free tshirt. At the interactive booths, youths can discover the joys of fishing and learn the importance of good water quality. They can tie their own wooly bugger, experience how rivers and streams are formed, explore the life cycles of fish, go buggy over bugs, color for conservation, learn to cast a fishing lure and learn more about Leave No Trace fishing and camping! A variety of local, state and federal agencies are sponsoring the activity. The activity promotes both water quality and fishing.
