Then Curtis met and married Elaine Christensen Shaw on June 12, 1990 in the Provo, Utah Temple. Together they adopted Elaine’s granddaughter, Kristen Nicole Shaw. Curtis loved prospecting, hiking, hunting, fishing, and camping. He worked at Alta View Hospital in Sandy, Utah where he made many friends. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many positions. He loved to be in the mountains and sharing time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Christensen Shupe; children Carl (Bekki) Shupe, Alison (Lee) Richins, Andrew (Marcia) Shupe, Leanna (Ryan) Wilkins, David (Natalie) Shupe, Kristen (Jason) Allen; Elaine’s sons, Rodney T. (Carrie) Shaw and Brian T. (Emily) Shaw; 18 grandchildren; his mother, Dorothy Garner Shupe Felt; and sister Pamela (Robert) Hauck. He was preceded in death by his father, Ross Armstead Shupe; sister, Dara Lucas; and Elaine’s daughter, Jana L. Shaw. Please send condolences to the family at <www.sundbergolpinmortuary.com> Donna Margaret Hogge 1919 - 2007 Donna Hogge passed away peacefully after a lingering illness on Sunday, June 3, 2007. She was born April 12, 1919 in Eden, Utah, the daughter of Charles Alexander and Lyda Elizabeth Fuller Hogge. She attended school in Eden and Huntsville and graduated from Weber High School and LDS Seminary. She attended Weber Junior College and Brigham Young University where she earned her Bachelors Degree in 1941. After teaching four years, she earned a Masters degree in Physical Education at Utah State University in 1948. She taught to William Blair and Margaret Swenson Russell. He married Vaunda Rae Kranendonk, and they resided in South Ogden. They had nine children: Roxanne, Randy, Ron (Coleen), Rochelle (Dave) Richins, Rhonda Marvin Russell (Tony) Swapp, Robyn (Mike) Butterfield, Rick, Rod (Faye), and Raeni (Aran) Bailey. He attended schools in Huntsville and Ogden City where he enjoyed and excelled in all sports, especially baseball. Dad was a pioneer in men’s hairstyling, being the first men’s hairstylist in Utah. He owned many businesses, including Oakridge Barber Shop, A Razor’s Edge, and Public Beauty Supply. He was an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and cherished the day he went to the temple. His passions included reading, television, and traveling. He loved his westerns, murder-mysteries, and Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. He is survived by his wife and children; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his mother; his brothers Scott (Marty), Jeff, and Robert (Angela); his sisters Pennie (Dave) Powell and Margaret (Clark) Roberts; and a sister-in-law, Carol Russell. She retired from ISU as a Department Chairman in the College of Physical Education about Donna Hogge 36 years later. During her years at ISU, she choreographed musicals and directed dance productions. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities in different organizations. She loved being a Temple Worker at the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for many years and was very involved in family genealogy. Although she never married and had no children of her own, she occupied a very special place in the lives of her many nieces and nephews and their children. She will be missed by her family and her many friends in Utah and Pocatello, Idaho. She is survived by her sisters Marelda Cutler and Ethel Bullock, and brother Elmer Hogge (Betty). She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Melvin and Floyd, and sister Bethene Hogge. Military News Ryan Froerer Huntsville Youth Receives Appointment to U.S. Air Force Academy Ryan B. Froerer, son of Bryce and Joan Froerer of Huntsville, has accepted an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He graduated with High Honors on May 22, 2007 from Weber High School and will enter the Academy on June 28, 2007. Nationwide applications to the Academy number around 10,000 with approximately 1,300 young men and women actually receiving an appointment. It is a great honor for Ryan to represent his family and our community at the nation’s Air Force Academy, and we wish him well. Baseball starts Tuesday June 12. T-ball and machine pitch.
