Carter Roxy Vernice Shupe Darling TURN ea REAL Roxy Vernice Shupe Darling was 48 YOUR OGDEN ESTATE VALLEY SPECIALISTS daughter of Junius Blaine Shupe and Laura Jane Dudley Shupe of Huntsville, died July 20, 2006 following a Roxy Darling Utah. She long illness. he was a special child of her Heavenly Father, being born with cerebral palsy and contracting polio at the age of 11 months. At the age of 43 she had a series of strokes that paralyzed her body. She graduated from high school in Riverside, California and attended nursing school at March Air Force : On September 13, 1969 she married Glen Tyler Darling in Mexico. They were later divorced. She oon Joseph McGuire, they were together 15 y She was preceded in death by her father in 1958 and her mother in 1970; her brother Glen LaMar Shupe (MIA Korea Nov. 21, 50); two sisters: Carolyn Shupe Grimm, 1998, Susan Shupe Price, 2006; one infant brother and two infant sisters; also a stepfather, David W. Jones, July 22, 1992 She is survived by one son, Lauren J. Darling; one grandson, Shelby Darling; two brothers, Donald Blane Shupe and Junius Shupe, Jr; one sister, Diann Shupe Robison all of Ogden Funeral services were held July 26, 2006 at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Carter died at his home at the age of 92, on Wednesday, July 15, 2006 surrounded by his loving family He was born January 4, 1914 in Ogden, to Charles Henry and Mary Fredricka Petersen Carter. At the age of 14, George continued work mining salt in Salina (Promontory), Utah, completing the contract left behind by his father’s death. This began his efforts in providing for his younger sister, brothers and mother. Never complaining in his trials, he felt blessed with his opportunities. George’s later working career continued with Jessperson Mercantile for .25 cents an hour in Huntsville, Utah Grain Elevator, Service Fruit CO, retiring from Kool Breeze in 1975. He married the love of his life Edna Irene Houston. Even after 75 years, he could recall he day they met, right down to the smells in he air and the dress she was wearing. He loved to protect her and would have moved he mountains to keep her safe. They had one on, Marvin G. Carter. He was a member of The Church of Jesus hrist of Latter Day Saints George and Edna spent their winters in Arizona for 29 years. He was a honorary lifetime member of the Roy Elks Lodge and a member of the Eagles. yeorge enjoyed being surrounded by family and working with his hands. The tradition of -elebrating Independence Day with his famiy was important to Grandpa and will forever remain a cherished memory to us all. George is survived by his loving wife Edna and their son Marvin, both of Iuntsville; four grandchildren, Connie (Jim) Robison, Tremonton; Karen Lee (Rex) Judkins, and Brock (Holly) Carter, both of Roy; Quinn (Bonnie) Carter, Surprise, AZ; 14 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great zrandchildren. Also surviving are three sister’s in-lav ary Warren, Ogden; Bessie Robinson, Salt ake City; and Donna Fletcher, Phoenix, AZ. George was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Gladys Meisner and two brothers Heber and Wallace “Wally” Carte Graveside services were held at the Huntsville Cemetery Funeral Directors, Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses from Applegate Hospice for the love and care they gave to George. She was born in Green River, Wyoming to lenry W. and Laura Murdock O’Keefe on December 18, 1929. She attended St. Joseph Elementary, Ogden High School, University of Utah, and graduated from Weber State College.
