The OVBA was formed in April, 2001 by business owners in Ogden Valley. Its founding mission is to enhance the qualityoof life for citizens of fon Valley (including Ogden Canyon) through édu1cation, health and human services, tourism, and community services. Over the last five years the Association has grown to over 110 members. “When we founded the OVBA, volunteers spent endless hours establishing a solid foundation for the organization,” states Lisa Karam Fuller, one of the organizations founders. “It is through the tremendous volunteer efforts of members, businesses and members that this organization has endured and grown.” “Tt has been a great pleasure to help establish and watch The OVBA grow in 5 years to become one of the premier business organizations in Utah,” states Paul Judd of Great merican Realty and also one of the organization’s founders. “It has been even more gratifying to watch the businesses support and help each other, and the community being enriched by OVBA members giving back to the community in many meaningful ways. I look forward to many more great accomplishments in the years to come,” he adds. “One of the best things about the OVBA is that I can find business resources right here in the Valley,” Jim Halay, the current Chair of the OVBA adds. “The OVBA consists of very talented people who help my business grow and stay on track. My web site design, accounting, advertising, internet connection, banking, legal advice, real estate an others are all right here. In addition to helping businesses thrive and serve our community, we are also able to provide valuable community services like the map, phone book, magazine and the OVBA website. Our involvement in such activities as the Ogden Marathon, XTerra Games, Balloon Festival, Triathlon, and Snow Dance make the Ogden Valley a o place to live. As current chair of the OVBA I hope we can make the Ogden Valley a better place to live and raise our families and welcome our many vacationing visitors from other parts of Utah, the US and the rest of the world.” The OVBA is funded by membership dues and roceeds from projects and events it produces. “Valley Views” magazine, in its fourth edition is an annual magazine full of information and articles about Ogden Valley and is targeted to visitors and locals alike. The Upper Ogden Valley Map and Business Guide is also an annual piece produced by the organization, and funded solely through ad sales to the membership businesses. The OVBA just produced its first edition of the Ogden Valley Phone Book, and also plans to make this an annual project Events have also provided a source of funds to allow the organization to further its mission and goals. The annual Ogden Valley Triathlon, produced in conjunction with Tri Utah is in its fourth year and has grown exponentially since its inception. The Annual Snowdance and Auction in its fifth year has also proven to be a successful. In keeping with one of the goals of the organization, portions of proceeds from these events are given back to the community to organizations such as Huntsville Park and The Snowbasin Alpine Team. The OVBA website at www.ovba.org, managed by Pamela Mitchell of Website by Design has become the clearinghouse of information about the Upper Ogden Valley.
