The Phatcat challenge, sponsored by Avalanche Ski Wear with support rom Snowcat manufacturers, Pisten Bully and Prinoth, is designed to test the skills of ski resort grooming 3 The art exhibit will run from April 1April 30, 2006. The exhibit will feature the following artists: Bill Barber, Garry Mealor and Desmond O’ Hagan lt Golden Eve, oil on board, Bill Barber Peeling An Apple, watercolor, Garry Mealor Bill Barber, lives in Eden, Utah. He is an award winning qe and painter of the magic and history of the American scene. His desire is to tell aa story and put his subjects into mood, lighting, or places that move the spirit. Bill believes that to be an artist you must know your subject. His whole life has been a panorama of experiences that give truth to his art expressions. Prospector, Horse Wrangler, Cowboy, Sailor and Navigator touch a few of these experiences. His abilities made his a natural for motion pictures, where his art pulled him into positions of Prop Master, Actor, Art Director, Wrangler, Assistant Director and Award ARTISTS cont. on page 16 Brook Olsen operators nationwide. In the competition held on Squaw Valley’s Red Dog run, operators navigated a course featuring a slalom course flagged with several tight cornering situations; a blade-to-grade feature that simulated skills required for grooming a chairlift unloading ramp; and a straight pass, that tested the drivers’ ability to create smooth snow servic First place finisher was Dave Hahl, Mount Rose, and second place David Myers of Mt. Hood Ski Bowl. Before hitting the course, competitors attended a snow surface management workshop that addressed current challenges and discussed best practices solutions. More than 50 snow grooming operators competed in this years Phatcat Challenge Events. Family Fun @ the Library April 6— It’s a Pajama Party! Grab your favorite blanket, a cushy pillow, put on a pair of your most comfortable pajamas, and join us for a party—a pajama party! The Ogden Valley Branch Library will be celebrating National Library Week with a Pajama Party on April 6 at 7:00 p.m. Patrons are invited to find a comfortable spot in the library and snuggle up for an night of great family fun. The pajama party will begin with entertaining bedtime stories, and continue fun crafts and silly activities the whole family can enjoy. Delicious bedtime ee will be served. Come on over to the Ogden Valley Branch Library for an evening full of good books, tasty treats, and lots of great company. April 10—Family Fun Night Celebrates “Our Community Reads” It’s that time of year again—time for another Family Fun Night at your library! The Ogden Valley Branch Library would like to cordially invite all Valley residents to a night of family togetherness full of great stories and delicious refreshments on April 10 at 7:00 p.m. The evening will feature local celebrities such as Valley Elementary Principal, Tommy Lee; Veterinarian, Etta Baker; Writer/Storyteller, Mark Wilkerson and Librarian Faith Zschiesche sharing their favorite stories.
