The soul that knows it not, knows no release from little things; -- Amelia Earhart copy for you catavien for Articles ity for The Grinch Who Steals Christmas It has come to my attention that a huge national/international company chain has forbidden their employees to wish their customers a “Merry Christmas.” Instead, they are instructed to say “Happy Holidays.” Christmas is a Christian sacred day with our Savior Jesus Christ as the main figure in the celebration. This nation was founded as a Christian nation with Christian principles. n my opinion, everyone has the right to celebrate this dayas they desire, and this company, of course, “has the right to do as they please. But I personally resent that this company, under the guise of “political correctness,” dispenses with Christmas because Christ has become inconvenient to them, and condemns this sacred day to a meaningless holiday that stands for nothing, except as a means for them to rake in more money. It appears to me that they are worse than the Grinch who stole Christmas I have come to the decision that this company chain with all its many stores — not deserve my shopping dollars . . er. since they put away with what is ae to me. I would like to encourage the readers to search their consciences and have the courage to act accordingly. Mother Asks for Support to Bring School to Weber County Imagine that you have a child that can’t communicate, can’t tell you what they need, or just seems to be lost in their own world. This is the world of Autism. What would you do for them? Anything—tight? That is what we are trying to do for our son Garrett. Well, now there is a school that can help with this: the Spectrum Academy. This is a charter school that has been created just for children who have Autism and Aspergers Disorder. “The Spectrum Academy seeks to become an innovative, multidisciplinary and unique school specifically designed for children with challenges in the areas of socialization, communicative and pragmatic language development, peer relations, and sensory integration dysfunction. Recognizing the strengths, challenges, and natural talents of each student, The Spectrum Academy promotes social and personal well-being, and strong academic achievement” (Spectrum Academy website This school will be opened for the school year of 2006 — 2007, grades K-8th. Because it is a charter school, anyone in any district can attend—free of tuition. They have 150 openings in the school. That breaks down to about 15 children in each grade level. The school is located! in North Salt Lake City offof Redwood Road. I a long drive for some, but there are parents that have contacted the school’s developer Natalie Longson from as far away as Texas, Florida, and New Mexico. These parents are willing to move just to have their child attend the school and gain a chance at a better education and life. The only draw 50 spots. After those are filled a “lottery” is then set in place for the next available opening. My plea to parents in the local Weber School District is to contact Natalie by e-mail and apres to her tne need {hat we have in the Weber unty Area ool like this.
