He graduated from Weber High School and attended Utah Agricultural College. He retired from the American Can Company in Ogden. He continues to farm the Bar 7H Ranch in Huntsville. She was born January 12, 1933 to Charles D. and Anna K. Shupe in Huntsville. She graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber College. She worked as a dental assistant in Ogden and, alongside her husband, on the farm in Huntsville. They were active in the Young Farmers and Young Homemakers Association where she served as president. They have lived in Huntsville where they raised their children. They have spent the last several winters in Quartzsite, Arizona where they have many friends. Their children are Rod and Connie Hansen, Delta; Chris and Brooke Hansen, Paradise; Jodi and Scott Richardson, Jill Gurnsey and her fiancé John Goff, and Richard Hansen, all of Huntsville. Their two foster children are Emerson Wadsworth, pene Mexico; and Carlos Masaquaptewa, Arizon: They have 23 eect and four greatgrandchildren. Obituaries Sarah Velene Kunz Hales Sarah Velene Kunz Hales, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and_ friend passed away peacefilly on the afternoon of Monday, June 13, 2005 surrounded by family and friends. Sarah was born in Plain City, Utah on January 27, 1931, a daughter of Milford H. Kunz and Sarah Baugh Hill Kunz. She was the second of five children and was reared and educated in Weber County. Sarah 7. Kenneth Hales in Ogden on August 30,1 Sarah ‘varied for the Weber County School District in the lunch program and for the IRS as a clerk. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, and her two children, Kenney (Sandra) Hales of Eden and Rick les of Layton; two grandchildren, Casey (Kellie) Hales of Plain City and Chrisi Hales of Eden; and one great-grandson, Wyatt Hales of Plain City. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Roy Baugh; and one sister, Leora Baugh hecketts. Graveside services were held Saturday, June 18, 2005 at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 E. 2850 N., North Ogden. Condens 7 nay —_sent to family at <www.myers-mortuary.co' Thomas “Bud” Poulter Thomas from causes 005. as Utah to Lee in Ogden. “Bud” Poulter, 90, passed away due to age on Monday, June 20, born August 6, 1914 in Ogden, Charles and Effie Grow Poulter s a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended Mound Fort School and graduated from Ogden High School. He joined the Army Air Corps in January 1942 and was stationed most of his military career in England at the 418th Bomb Group, B17 Base and at the Hunter Bomb Group. Upon his discharge, he went to work for Williamsons Truck and Auto Shop in Ogden. moved to California to work for Hughes Aircraft and while there he worked for Centering Engineering, Air Forum, and Swift Corporation as a Tool and Die Maker. While in California he married Florence Anderson and lived in Los Angels. After Florence passed away, he moved back to Ogden to be near family and friends He is survived by his sisters Melba Poulter (John Larson) of Orem; Marguarite Poulter Erickson (Arthur, deceased) of Walnut Creek, CA; and brother William “Bill” (Patricia) Poulter of Huntsville, Utah. Also many nieces and nephews and his special friend and caregiver, Norris (Nick) Ficklin of North Ogden Bud was renee by his parents and sisters Elaine Poulter Hilton and LuJean Poulter Richmond. The Combined Military Veterans Group accorded a short memorial service with military honors on June 23, 2005 at the Ogden City Cemete Funeral Directors, Lindquist Ogden Mortuary. Email condolences to the family at <lom@lindquistmortuary.com> Gayla Brown Galvez 1929 — 2005 Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, Gayla Brown Galvez passed away in Ogden on June 12, 2005 surrounded by her loving family after a 2’ year battle with cancer. In spite of this uphill battle, she fought a gallant fight. Gayla’s unwavering faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ never faltered. She stated several times, “I’m not afraid to die, I’ve had heaven here on earth; I don’t see how heaven could be any better.” Gayla was the eighth child of nine children born to Mary Blodwin Johns and Lawrence Cyrus Brown on September 10, 1929 in Eden, Utah. Gayla graduated from Ogden High School in May 1947. On June 15, 1947 in Berkeley, California she married Fred Galvez. Their marriage was solemnized January 21, 1953 in the Logan Temple. Gayla was an ‘active member of the LDS Church. She taught primary in the Mt. Ogden Stake for 23 years, and served as a Stake missionary in the Burch Creek Stake with her husband for five years. After Gayla’s children had grown she worked for the IRS and received numerous proficiency awards during her 20 years of service. Gayla participated in an aerobics group, which she attended three times a week. Gayla loved ballroom dancing and she danced regularly for over 50 years. Gayla and her husband were the co-sponsors of the Variane’s Dance Club. Gayla is survived by her husband, Fred, four daughters, two sons, and one sister— Venetta (Jean) Hughes. Gayla leaves a beautiful heritage of six children, 19 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Gayla’s children are Marleen (Ladd _ Hollist, ceasased Karen (Thom) Wight; Curtis (Liz) Galvez; Jean (Dave) Willoughby; Kevin Galvez oe Lisa (Lynn) Scadden; and Brad (Lisa) Galvez. Preceding Gayla in death were her parents; son Kevin Galvez; infant brother Tommy Brown; grandson Brody Wight; sisters and brothers Elizabeth (Merlin Webb), Susan (Bill Checketts), Raymond (Marty) Brown, Cecil (Lois) Brown, James (Carolyn) Brown, Pearl Carol (Gene) Knight, and Tommy Brown. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation for the professional and compassionate services of Drs. Vincent Hansen and Gary Whipple as they labored to make Gayla well and comfortable in spite of an extremely complex and indiscriminate disease. Funeral services were held June 16, 2005 at the LDS Chapel located at 1401 Country Hills Drive, Ogden. Interment at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park.
