Show Volume XI_ THE Issue VI OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Page 5 January 1, 2005 On December 17, 2004, John Charles Witwer of Eden received his Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Weber State University. In attendance was his wife Jeanne Witwer; daughter Christina Witwer; grandson Orion Mallette; parents John and Rosanna Witwer; and parents-in-law Don and Janet Smith. John has been attending WSU since his arrival in Utah in 1999; he graduated with Honors with an Associates Degree in Nursing in 2003. Additionally, John has been elected to serve as President of the Utah Nurses Association. He will sit as President-elect beginning January 2005 and assume a twoyear tenure as President of UNA in January 2006. John has represented both the National Student Nurses Association and Utah Nurses Association as delegate, regionally and nationally, and conducted community education programs within Ogden Valley. John works at Ogden Regional Medical Center on the Pediatrics Unit and in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. He is also employed at Applegate HomeCare and Hospice in providing nursing services throughout Morgan, Davis, and Weber Eden Resident Receives Exceptional Service Award for Duty in lraq Michael J. Hoffman of Eden was recently presented the Defense Contract Management Agency Exceptional Civilian Service Award for duty in Iraq from January 4, 2004 to June 28, 2004. The gold and white medal and ribbon withee tate citation was presented to Mr. Hoffman by the Commander, Defense Contract Management Agency International, Captain M.P. Tryon C, U.S. Navy. Captain Tryon noted in his citation that Mr. Hoffman’s selfless dedication and professional abilities contributed substantially to success of the United States Logistics Augmentation Program during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Additionally, he was commended for his expertise, strong work ethic, independent judgment, and tenacity in providing timely and effective combat support services to both United States forces and Coalition forces. Captain Tryon’s citation observed that “Mr. Hoffman’s willingness to work as part of the team while under constant threat of hostile enemy actions in support of the z. Mr. Hoffman is currently assigned to Triumph Gear Systems, a Department of Defense contractor located in Park City. As an Acquisition Technical Lead, he is responsible for overseeing the procurement of components for the F-18 Super Hornet jet fighter flown by the U.S. Navy.
