In the last eight years, Federspiel- Young has worked earnestly to hone her artistic talents. She is a member of the Ogden Palette Club, and has had her work in numerous juried shows, receiving many awards for her work including a 2002 Judges Choice Award, a People’s Choice Award, and a Purchase Federspiel-Young is self-taught, and works primarily in watercolor, but she also includes printmaking, acrylic, and collage. Lynn Federspiel-Young’s artwork will be on display from November 24 through December 23 in the Lorna Wattis Swanson Gallery of the Ogden Valley Branch Library in Huntsville. For more information about this exhibition, please contact Sarah at 745-2220 Huntsville Artist’s Pottery on Display at Library The Ogden Valley Branch of the Weber County Library is proud to present a new art exhibition featuring the ceramics of Homer ich Homer Rich discovered ceramic art after the tragic loss daughter in a motorcycle accient. I order to help his wife cope with her grief, Rich enrolled her in an art class at Weber State University. Each class, Rich carried his wife’s canvasses and supplies to the classroom, passing through the ceramics area during each trip. Thee his initial thought was simply “who are these people with mud all over their hands?” Becoming more and more fascinated with the art form with each new trip through the department, he finally enrolling in a ceramics class in 1966. He was a natural, throwing a 12-inch cylinder on his first night. He has since studied ceramics at Weber State University, Utah State University, and the University of Utah. Lynn Federspiel-Young has always viewed the creative process as a natural progression, and has been traveling along an artistic path her entire life. Though she has always been passionate about the creation of her pieces, it has only been in the last couple of years that she has been able to pursue her art ina more serious manner. There has been plenty of trial and error along the way, but to Federspiel- Young, working hard and learning from each piece is a valuable part of the artistic process. Federspiel-Young grew up in Washington State where the beautiful landscapes shaped her love of the outdoors and compelled her to highlight the splendor of her surroundings in her pieces. Christy Brand is Wolf Creek’s new Executive Chef and is a graduate of The National Culinary Institute in Denver, Colorado and a 1978 graduate of Utah State University. She owned her own catering business in Los Angeles for several years and was Executive Chef at Beyond Expectations, a well-known Los Angeles eatery, for four years. She held numerous positions in the food and beverage department for Sheraton Hotels in San Diego and was most recently employed at Snowbasin resort. She is currently applying her skills to designing new menus for The Grille and Deli at Wolf Creek Resort, which will be launched in late November. Winter hours for the Deli, which serves breakfast and lunch, are 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 -m.; with Apres Ski starting in The Grille at 3:00 p.m. Dinner is served until 9:00 p.m. weekdays, and 10:00 p.m. on weekends.
