In honor of the 80th birthday of Nereja Clark, her brothers and sisters hosted an open house on September 25 at the Timber Mine Restaurant & Steak House in Ogden. Nereja was born September 28, 1924, in Sorensen Liberty, to Walter A. and Zenna Hill Clark. San Clemente, California; on She spent her early life in Liberty, and later moved to Ogden. She attended Grant School and worked at the Deseret Industries and Sheltered Workshops in Ogden and Roy. She attended the LDS 4th Ward for many years where she had many friends. For several years, she has resided at the St. Benedict’s Manor under the care of the TURN Organization. Her interests include travel, especially on airplanes, bowling, and Disneyland. She has a collection of stuffed animals. Her brothers and sisters are Lloyd and Norma (deceased) Clark, West Haven; Selma and Alma Kreipl, Leon J. Sorensen of Huntsville will celebrate his 90th birthday Mary Brown, Lakewood, California; Elaine and Wayne Garner, Ogden; and Elwood and Joyce Clark, Kaysville. Her parents are deceased. Births Robyn and Daniel Jacob Howe of Eden had a baby boy on August 31, 2004. Melanie and Lane Dennis Olson of Huntsville had a baby boy on September 1, 2004. Jenny and Rex Newey Harris of Huntsville had a baby boy on September 4, 2004. October 3, 2004 with his family. Sorensen was born on October 3, 1914 in Mt. Pleasant, Sanpete, Utah to George Leon J. Sorenson Christian and Mina Hasler Sorensen. He graduated from North Sanpete High School, Snow College, and from Utah State University with a degree in forestry. He spent a year in Washington D.C. compiling the 1940 farm census, and was drafted soon after. A World War II veteran, he served in the South Pacific theater for four years as a company commander of the 339th Engineer Battalion. In 1951, he and Bonnie had the opportunity to purchase the local general store in Huntsville, and operated it for 37 years as “Leon’s Market’ where they made many wonderful friendships and didn’t have to worry about being transferred every few years. He served as mayor of Huntsville for six years, and served an additional six years as a member of the Town Board. He was responsible for many improvements for the town. He organized a volunteer Fire Department for Huntsville, and served as Fire Chief for several years. Leon was instrumental in getting a pressurized water system throughout the town of Huntsville, and he ran the water company for 15 years. He and his wife were ordinance workers at the Ogden Temple for eight years. He served in two bishoprics, as well as in many other church callings. he married solemnized in the Logan Temple on April 11, 1963. They moved to Huntsville on December 1948 where he was employed with the Soil Conservation five children California; are: David Douglas Utah; Dr. Donald LuAnn Sorensen, Sorensen, Haslet, Texas; and Richard (Regen) Sorensen, Huntsville.
