Planning Commission Chairman Craig Van Tassell stated, "The number of parking spots for a building is determined by the number of square feet in the building. Even though this rule of thumb is adequate in most cases, we still do not know the exact impact a new business will have as fas as parking is concerned. The concern we have is that the Pasillas Restaurant is in a building that still has room for two more tenants. The combination believe, make the parking problem in that area (2nd South & Main Street) even worse." The owner Pasillas, Denise Pascadlo, stated "I have looked thru Kamas ordinances and cannot find any ruling that states that I cannot have a deck right in front of my business. Gaddis Investments (the owner of the building) has given me veto rights over what kind of businesses can occupy this building, so I do not plan on allow- ing other businesses here that would cause me parking problems." .Earlier this year Denise found that that county ordinances allow for parking spaces eight feel wide (for compacts). Since the lines in her parking lot are 10 feet apart, she presented a plan in October, to the commission, asking if she could have her deck if she had Gaddis Investments repaint the parking lines nine feet apart. The commission turned her proposal down. Denise now plans to approach the commission in January with a request to paint the lines at eight leet apart. That would bring the total number of parking spaces up to 28. She hopes that maybe this new plan will finally let her have her deck.
