election on tuesday they elected their candi dates for mayor recorder justice marshal and two city councilmen while the republicans managed to U wiggle out of the battle with two councilmen and the city treasurer these two city councilmen together with the hold over olver councilmen will mill however give the republicans a ma bority in that body the election w as a very remarkable one in many re specks and both sides worked hard realizing that the result waa was sure to be close early in the afternoon the laicans realized that the socialists were getting out a pretty heavy vote but not until the straight tickets had been counted in the various precincts did athey hey concede the election of more t than 0 ae 0 ow 0 of me the socialist caldi dates when it was announced that the socialist were ahead in no 2 3 and 4 precincts everyone realized that they would mould elect a majority of their c candidates no I 1 precinct went strong republican but the heavy vote which was cast for the Pe republican publican candidates in this precinct could not overcome the socialist majorities in the three other precincts the candidates which the socialists elected were A L mitche mitchell maor mayor
