Mr. Alder updated the board on current projects at the West Desert and explained that new porches and skirting for both teachers housing units arc needed to make them more stable. Mrs. Annette Garland, teacher at Callao School, presented the board with a fall report summarizing her students achievements. Although she was satisfied with their scores, she expressed concerns about the methods that the state uses to report the scores. The board complimented Mrs. Garland and thanked her for her presentation. West Desert Schools Principal, Ed Alder, presented the board with both the elementary and high schools test results. Mr. Alder pointed out the improvement since their reading program and tf.cn presented story books published by some elementary students. The stories were written and illustrated by Kathy Hill's students. The board thanked Mr. Alder and complimented Mrs. Hill on the stories by her students. Earl and April Lewis were at the meeting to express concern about a bus run affecting their children. Mr. Lewis informed the board that the state will no longer reimburse transportation costs for students living within 1.5 miles of a school campus.
