David Leavitt has been Juab County Attorney for 8 years and said that he is an experienced prosecutor that wants to keep Eureka safe. He said that he has a long history' of success. He has prosecuted 9,000 criminal cases and understands what it takes to p.ci a c iminal conviction. He is married to Shelom Leavit and is the father of 6 children ages 1 to 12 years old. He say's hes an active family man and is active in the community. I have nothing bad to say about my' opponent, said Leavitt, We are both good guys. Leavitt also said that the county' attorney doesnt haw much to do with Town talk Two former Eureka politics and that by voting for him it would save the county transition time which helps the county in the long run. Jared Eldridgc is married and has lived iu Ncphi for 3 years. He graduated BYU in 1994 and Willamette University Washington in 1998. father of 3 children. He is the Eldridgc says that he is willing to work hard for the county and promises to be back out in Eureka often. He said that if elected, he will encourage law enforcement to be in Eureka more often. Eldridgc says that he comes from a hard working family and will work hard for the county and E"r?Ls. He says that although he doesnt have prosecutorial experience, he docs have experience working in the county court system and believes that he can do a good job. Incumbent, Pat Ingram, is running again for county clerk against Neal Mcnlovc of Ncphi. Ingram has lived in Juab County' her entire life and was raised in Levan. She is married and the mother of 3 and grandmother of 3. She ha been the county clerk for 4 Vi years. She said that she is very' proud that for the last 5 years, that Juab County has received a good rating from the independent auditors and also has complied with all state and federal regulations. She also explained that she tries to keep Eureka involved in the county as much as possible. Mike Leavitt has declared Wednesday, Oct. 30 "Utah Weatherization Day" to encourage Utahns to check their homes and take steps to make sure they are against outside .air. For residents unable to afford the cost of inspections and the installation of measures to protect homes form the weather, the states Weatherization Assistance Program can help. The Weatherization Assistance Program is a U.S. Department of Energy program administered in Utah by the states Division of It Development. Community and elderly helps disabled people implement measures in their homes to reduce utility expenses and to make their more comfortable. They include audits to well-insulat- ed low-incom- e, energy-conse- rvation determine where cold or warm outside air infiltrating a home and the installation of weatherstr caulking, or new doors and windows that can more effectively seal a home from the elements. The Weatherization Assistance Program also offers furnace tune-up- s and repairs; insulation of attics, walls, floors and exposed heating ducts; and energy-efficielighting and refrigerators. ip-pin- g, nt Nationally, participating homes average a savings of nearly 28 percent in energy consumption and approximately $285 a year in utility costs, according to the Department of Energy. Last year, 1,104 homes in Utah were weatherized with help from the Weatherization Assistance Program. Individuals, the families, handicapped and people age 60 and older whose household income is no more than 25 percent above the federal poverty level and who either own or rent their tion help.
