Barlow reported that the 2002 Utah State Legislature enacted Senate Bill 132 requiring school districts to adopt a written policy concerning leave for employees who are attending to association duties. Mr. Barlow presented the Board with copies of the written language of the law, the USBAs Education Association Leave Policy, and the UEAs policy. Mr. Balrow advised the board that the Association Leave Policy should be the next policy adopted. Mr. Tom Ncdrcbcrg and Mrs. Amy Sorenson were both in attendance to represent the staffs of the district's school and to address issues pertaining to current association leave practices. After discussing the issues, Board agreed to allow Superintendent Barlow to draft a policy and present it at the October meeting for review.
