Leah Towers gave the treasures report Grace then read a letter from the six county RSVP program about Tarsula Lucas: Tarsula has been selected to receive the coveted Silver Bowl Award from Juab County this year. Silver Bowl Awards are given out yearly by Lieutenant Governor Olene Walker, the Utah Commission on Volunteers, and the Utah Volunteer Center Association. Silver Bowl Recipients are individuals or groups who make a difference in their communities through service and volunteerism. A special committee has selected Tarsula for i this honor. Awards will be presented on at a Wednesday April 24 luncheon beginning at noon and the Provo Marriott Hotel at 101 West 100 North in Prove. It will be potluck. m little Satan accident An eleven year boy died as a result of an ATV accident at Little Sahara Dunes, located 15 miles west of Eureka, on Sunday afternoon. Tyler Thorton, 11, son of James and Rose Thornton, of Saratoga Springs, Utah, died instantly as a result of the tragic south accident at 3 pm, one-mi- le of the popular recreation site at sand mountain. Sheriff David Carter said, This is the first fatal accident of the year 2002 at the Sand Dunes. Bystanders had already administered CPR prior to a deputys arrival, said Carter. Mr. Cory Frampton, an EMT with Nephi ambulance and a search and rescue member was at the scene and immediately started CPR on the young victim. Eureka ambulance then called for d helicopter to assist out of Salt Lake City. Mcrrianne did a humorous intereptation called, O Captain My Captain by Garrison Keillor. Crystal Zufelt did Shooting Star by James Steele. Merrianne went on to win third place and a chance to go to state on April 20 at Juab High School. Mcrrianne did go and She participate in a festival. received the highest marks which are superior straight 5's and went to a workshop. She was one of the top 3 in state and received that medal. They both had a great experience at region and state and it will prepare them to come out strong for their senior year in the dramatic competition. Therefore, Utah County sheriffs force contacted the family in Saratoga Springs to Cleo Judge named citizen of the year Elks BPOE 711 has selected Cleo Judge as citizen of the year. Cleo has been a civic minded citizen all of ha life. She served on the Tintic Board of Education for 20 years. Even with safety equipment, a child should neva ride a 4 wheeler alone without a parents supervision, said Sheriff Carter. This is a tragic accident for anyone, let alone a small child to be taken away in such a tragic accident. The sand dunes is a dangerous place to ride without haring experience on an OHV or parent supervision. Shaiff Carter, urges all the children and parents to take an OHV certification class before riding any OHV machine. Stray cats cause problem Eureka City has received many complaints from citizens in Eureka due to the high number of stray cats throughout town. In an effort to control the problem. Eureka Citys Animal Control Officer will be placing live taps out to try and catch the strays and take them to the Animal Shclta. Eureka City is asking all cat owners to place a collar on all house cats, if any cats with a collars is trapped, it will be released.. Merissa Stutz from the 4th Grade was given the Principals Award this week for her outstanding ability to complete and turn in all class assignments, homework, and home reading calendars on time. Merissa takes responsibility for herself and her homework. She will always be on of the top students in her class with this attitude. She is the daughter of Brain and Shalene Stutz.
