Max Sam Steele Max Earnest "Sam" Steele, 70, of Santaquin died March 16, 1999, after a hard valiant fight with emphysema. He was bom Aug. 9, 1928, a son of Chester Cloy and Edna May Wickman Steele. He was educated in Santaquin schools and worked in the Mammoth and Eureka mines. He served in the Army as a medic in Germany from 1950 to 1952. He worked in law enforcement in Idaho, where he lived for many years. He moved to Terra, Utah where he worked as a security guard at Dugway until retirement, returning to his childhood home to help care for his aging mother. He loved the great outdoors where he spent time hunting.
