MET Juab Company of Daughters of Utah Pioneers held their quancrly board meeting October 19th in the DUP Museum board room. President Bessie P. Jones conducted the meeting with the following members in attendance: .Winagcne Eyre. Verla Spring. Adclc Jackson. Ina Kay. Shirlecn Newell, LaRac Kendall, Vonda Bowles, Joan Morris, Alice Fox. and Eula Howard. Excused members were DeLora Nebcker. Ernestine Vest. Dorothy Neilsen, and Norma Sherwood. One of the main objectives of DUP for the 1998-9- 9 year is to increase its membership. Shir-lee- n Newell, company registrar, reported the following ladies have joined DUP since June , 1998: Norma B. Malquisl, Fort Wall Camp; Renee J. Woodard and Dccima Jacobsen, Camp Birch: Joyce S. Justet, Chicken Creek Camp, Levan. Lucille Gadd is also a new member of of Camp Birch as a transfer from the former Salt Creek Camp which has now been officially dissolved. Camp Captains were happy to report that several other membership applications are pending. Ladies whose pioneer ancestors arrived in the Salt Lake Valley prior to May 10, 1869, are eligible to join this organization and are urged to come into the museum office on Main Street, Ncphi. and request an application form. Your membership indicates the loving respect you feel for those who founded this state. If your schedule docs not permit attendance at monthly meetings at this time, you may join as a "member at large" until you are able to attend meetings. Those ladies whose ancestors did not settle in Utah are invited to join as "guest" members and participate in all functions. Joan Morris, Captain of the Sunbeam Camp in Eureka, announced plans for the dedication of a p ionccr monument at Eureka City Park. Tentative date is November 14th. Dedication is at 2:00 p.m. and is preceded by a program at 1:00 p.m. at the Memorial Building. Check your newspaper tor possible change of the November 14th date. President Jones reported that progress is being made on the renovation of the the old county jail west of the museum. Lee Spring and Bill Stuver are the muscles behind this project.
