Mining Review from his present home in Los Angeles, has the following story regarding the Godiva mine of Eureka. The announcement is made that Glenville A. Corporation, has secured a lease and bond on the mining property of the Godiva Mining Company at Eureka, Tintic District, Utah, comprising nine Don Ray Giles Don Ray Giles, 73, of Eureka, died Saturday, March ii'lni C. Don Giles Editor Submitted by John Schmitt Will 15 Publisher PRESS ASSOCIATION (FrM patented claims and covering 67 acres of valuably mineral-bearin- g ground almost within the corporate limits of Eureka and surrounded by practically several big producing mines of the district, including the Chief Consolidated, and the May Day mine of the Uncle Sam Mining Company; the great Tintic Standard mine being not far distant. The title to the Godiva mine has long been vested in the pioneer McChrystal family of Eureka. Up to 1916 the Godiva had a recorded ore production of approximately $16,000, 000, ana up to that date had chronicled dividend payments of $1,755,000. The ore deposits of the mines are typical replacements in limesfissures tone, the ranging from two to 60 feel in width, the average assay values of the ore being around 25 per cent lead, 12 ounces silver and ore-beari- ng Card of thanks appreciable gold content. Production was largely derived from the 600, 700 and 900-fo- ol levels. The workings of the Chief Consolidated, it is stated, in ore arc but a short distance from Godiva sideline, but at greater depth than Godivas deepest levels. It is the intention, Mr. Collins stales, to begin work within 60 days in electrifying the steam hoisting works and compressor on the property. The 1200-foshaft is to be reconditioned and sunk to the 2000-fo- ot in level mine and development operation. It is claimed a considerable tonnage of commercial ore is practically available in the mine workings and shipments are planned at an early date. Mr. Collins feels that in securing the Godiva he has the making of one of the best mines in Tintic District, long noted for its great bonanza mines. ot 24, 1990 at his home.
