EARLY MOAB: One of the earliest photographs of Moab, this picture was taken from a point near the Senior Center at the top of 100 North. Note the two homes near the center of the photograph. The more distant of the two still stands at the corner of 400 East and 100 South. (From the Verona Stocks Collection) MOAB'S VORTEX---THEN & NOW (below): Until 1991 the Canyonlands Cafe was fondly regarded by many as the center of town. Some of the greatest tales ever told in Moab came from the counter of that cafe. It took part of a winter morning to tear it down, as well as the magnificent sycamore tree that towered behind it for decades. Today the site is occupied by a high-end motel. |
