Show THE INTERMOUNTAIN CATHOLIC midst of our Rocky Mountains. You have come unto a noble people, a people that have known hardships and toil, but a people whose souls have always been unconquered. You have come to a people who will love you and in every way will cooperate with you for the upbuilding of the Church of God through the ages. You have been received with more than usual honor, for your own spiritual father has crossed this mighty continent to be present here as he places you upon this throne of the Diocese of Salt Lake. Unto him we are grateful, for he has visited upon us an honor that is very, very rare, and in the midst of this joy we can only pray that he may have length of days to be unto us a veritable father in God, a light to guide us on to higher, nobler, purer things of life. Now Christ, eternal High Priest of the new and eternal covenant, look down in love, tender and kind, upon us, Thy servants; upon him whom Thou hast this day placed over our people: Give him light that he may see his way; give him love that he may draw our hearts to him; give him strength that he may guide Gods people to their mighty destiny;, give him length of days, that he may rule wisely and well those whom God commits unto his care; give him strength for his tasks. Let not labor and toil overcome him, and let no sacrifice be too great when it is for the souls that Christ has redeemed. Let him be a good soldier and fight for the things that pass not away, and may he, fighting for the noble and high things of life, help this land that we love, and help right, with the measure of his power, this world that has gone astray, and bring it back again to brotherhood, again to peace, again to love. -- , At the close of the Mass the Reverend Wil frid J. Giroux, of Park City, delivered the address in behalf of the Clergy of the Salt Lake Diocese: Right Reverend John J. Mitty, Bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake.
