Show 54 THE INTERMOUNTAIN CATHOLIC Sacred Heart Academy Every detail of the consecration of the Right Reverend John J. Mitty, D. D., was followed at Sacred Heart with intense - and prayerful concern. While the ceremony was taking place in New York City, the Sisters assembled in the Academy chapel for an hour of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. The Reverend William A. Ruel offered appropriate prayers and gave Benediction'. Bishop Mittys messages of fatherly tenderness and Christ-lik- e simplicity have already endeared him to his new people. They are comforted to know that in him their beloved Bishop Glass will have a worthy successor. His coming is eagerly awaited at Sacred Heart as the great event of the school year. Sister Laurents sudden death at St. Marys, Notre Dame, Indiana, on August 12th was a terrible shock to her many friends at Sacred Heart where she had spent eighteen years as prefect and teacher. Thoiigh at the time of her death she was Directress of St. Josephs School, Pocatello, she looked on Sacred Heart as her home. On the morning of September 9th Father Ruel offered the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the repose of her soul. Friends and former students attended. In the death of Dr. Edward Maurice Conroy on August 13th, Sacred Heart lost a devoted friend and benefactor. Sisters and students extend deep sympathy to his bereaved relatives and offer fervent prayers for the repose of his soul. The appointment of the Reverend Emmett McDonnell, C. M., to St. Patricks Church, La Salle, Illinois, deprived Sacred Heart of a valued friend. In the capacity of chaplain he so intimately identified himself with the spiritual and cultural life of the Academy that his departure is keenly felt and deeply regretted. The best wishes of the Sisters and students follow him to the distant field of his new labors., A hearty welcome is extended to the Revd erend William A.- - Ruel, chaplain.
