Show THE INTERMOUNTAIN CATHOLIC 29 College and Academy of St. Mary-of-the-Wasat- ch On Saturday, September 11th the Sisters of the Holy Cross moved definitely from the old St. Marys Academy on South First West Street, which they have occupied for the past fifty years, to the new College and Academy of St. two miles east of the city. They were assisted in the difficult work by the cooperation of a number of friends and alumnae of the school and particularly by the tireless and patient supervision of the superintendent of building operations, Mr. Bruneau. Holy Mass was celebrated for the first time in the new building on Sunday morning, September 12th, by happy coincidence the Feast of the Holy Name of Mary. Class rooms, dining-rooand sleeping apartments were all in readiness for the opening of school on September 13th. Registration day recorded over a hundred high school students and an equally representative attendance in the preparatory classes. Language, commercial, music and art classes all opened on schedule time with the regular academic program so that in the actual process of readjustment from the old to the new school no class time was lost. Though the actual work of construction was completed before moving began, details of equipment and finishing have had to continue. The good will of the students in the presence of these slight inconveniences is as commendable as it is characteristic of them. The distinction of being pioneer girls in the new school they correctly regard as more than adequate return. The problem of the transportation of day pupils has been solved by the provision of the which meets the street car school auto-bu- s at the Uintah school every fifteen minutes between 8 and 9 in the morning and furnishes free transportation to pupils to school. It runs onschedule after 3 in the afternoon, taking the pupils back to meet the street cars at 13th East and 15th South Streets.
